Hi all.

Hi all, im new. just changed my user name and pic from panther, so this is the same post, just incase ive confused ya lol.

Im nearly 27 (6th Jan), Female and from the UK. My weight is currently 167lbs (nearly 12 stone) and im 5 ft 8'.

My long term goal weight is 126 lbs, so thats 41 lbs i hope to lose.
My short term goal is to lose about 21 pounds, (which i hope will be about a dress size) by summer.

I also quit smoking on new years day, because i want to get fit and healthy again i knew that i couldnt carry on smoking 20 a day, plus it was slowly killing me. So far so good.

People think im mad wanting to quit smoking and lose weight, but i think that they come hand in hand, and also, im a little worried about putting weight on because of quitting smoking.

I am going to start working out at home, i have an exercise bike, hand weights 10kg, pilates dvd, yoga dvd and tae bo dvd, so im well equiped to make a start on the exercise side.

I will be starting me new life style on Monday, when i go shopping for healthy food and my son goes back to school, i will also take measurements and a before pic to post later on, hopefully when ive lost some weight.

Lovely to meet you all any advice is welcome. x

I am in the same boat as you I really need to quit smoking but unlike you I can't do it all at once. I figure I have tried to change everything all at once so many times that this time I am just going to do things slowly so that hopefully they stick. It sounds like you are doing great so far though so keep up the good work.

Hi SeaChelle

I know what you mean about doing to much at once, i think that the only thing thats keeping me motivated to exercise and lose weight as well is because im sooooo scared that i will pile on the pounds even more now that im not smoking lol.

Also, im looking forward to exercising, i need something to keep me ocupied to keep my mind off the fags.

Nice to meet you.

Hey D3bblicious

Everyone says that i look ok etc, but im a uk size 14 - 16 and not toned at all and i use to be a toned, fit, size 10 many moons ago before i had my son.

Im doing this to feel sexy, and feel good about myself again. Ive just brought a couple of new exercises dvds, the first two are pilates and yoga for beginners (just because i always wanted to do these) The next one is Billy Blanks Tae Bo, well when i got it yesterday and played it i was like lol, very hard work, but im up for a challenge, and cant wait to get started on it.

Im from the West midlands, Staffordshire area in the uk.

Gonna take a pic and take measurements tomorrow, im dreading it lol

I know what you mean about clothes sizes, i will go in a shop and fit into a size 12 and be like whoooooo, then i will go in another and be a size 16
But in most shops im inbetween sizes 14 - 16 so a 14 is to small but a 16 is to big so i end up walking out the shop with nothing.

Ive failed on quitting smoking Ive just had a cigarette and now i feel really bad

I was doing really well untill yesterday, when i weighed myself, and i had put on 4 lbs over xmas, this is the biggest ive ever been, so was feeling crap about that, and then all ive been able to think about is having a fag, im soooo stupied to think that i could do both, im gonna try and quit again in a few weeks when i get into a routine of eating healthier and exercising.

Im such a failure

You didn't fail. Quitting smoking is hard to do... if it were easy everyone would do it. All you can do is try harder tomorrow. Also if there was something specific that caused you to have that cigarette try avoiding those situations. I know this will sound funny but my husband smokes because he has some weird oral fixation so in order to get him to smoke less he chew's on almost everything from pens to paper. LOL. Maybe get some gum or a sucker for when you are craving that smoke.
