2 Years of Blindness

Hey all! My Name is Dan, I'm new to posting here but ive been reading alot of the threads just trying to get my motivation up, and enough is enough. Ive decided its now my time to make a difference with my health.
I guess I let you in on my story, I'm 22 years old and live in NYC, I'm a police officer (not the a**hole kind, i assure you lol). I graduated the police academy in January of 2007, and at that time I was in the best shape of my life i could do like 50 pushups easy (that was a feat for me since i have a condition called winged scapula with is a deficiency in strength in my shoulder blade area), could easily do 40-50 correct situps in a minute, and ran a mile and a half in just about 11 minutes. I came out the academy weighing around 180 pounds and I looked alright considering Im just a shade under 6 foot tall. But thats where all the good went downhill. In the last two years i went up to the highest of 225, I can hardly do 15 pushups and my running has really suffered (partly because ive smoked ciggarettes since the age of 15, yes nasty but i just got a prescription to help me quit). At the present time i weight approximately 217 pounds and am so very much out of shape. I know there are many people worse off than me but it pains me to see that ive let myself go so much, when i was in such great shape. Well im sorry for such the long introduction but i guess i just had to get it off my chest. I started running again today and am going to seriously look at my caloric intake, and I want to start a diary here just so my motivation stays high. Well thanks everyone lol, if anyone even reads this

Hey Dan! Welcome to the sight. If motivation is what you are looking for you are sure to find it as well as all the support one would need to get them through the good, bad, and ugly.

Check out the sticky threads on nutrition. They will give you an idea of where to start as far as where your cals should be coming from. There are also free sights that you can track your cals on. I use Fitday.com, check it out its free to use and I find it super helpful in keeping me accountable for everything that goes down the hatch!

Again welcome and I look forward to seeing your progress and gettting to know you better!

Cheers,
Dee
