Rep Power: 0 | | | New here - 1 day cheat causing weight gain Hi all. Once in awhile I will fall off the bandwagon and cheat a little on my diet. Last night I ate some pizza and a handful of candies. When I got on the scale this morning I had gained 3lbs back! It will take me all week to re-lose that weight. How is it possible that 2 slices of pizza and some reeses pieces add up to 3lbs?!?

Rep Power: 0 | | | I do agree with that posting however, many times the excitment of seeing a smaller number on the scale is what helps me bypass the candy bar or McDonalds drive-thru. If I didn't have that daily incentive I don't know if I'd stick to it as easily. |

BUT, I do a body/fat analysis every week at my gym and every week I have seen it drop a small amount. I have a soft measuring tape and I measure myself once every 2 weeks. I have not seen any gains there either. I trust those more than I trust a scale. |

Redirecting your focus on more useful metrics and understanding the logic behind doing so would help immensely.
Start taking measurements and pictures.
Incentivize yourself with different things.
I equate what you just said above to this:
"Each day I wake up and watch out my window for pigs to fly, since that's what motivates me to do what needs to be done."
Not a perfect match, but the point is, the scale will never measure exactly what you're interested in, and that's fat loss. I'm not saying you have to completely change. Just add to your basket of 'tools/metrics' and perceptions. |

I now know that I am an emotion eater and right now I'm really going through some stuff...WHO'S NOT?? Yet I try not to beat myself up or let myself think of myself as a failure. Just keep in mind that this is a process and that YOUR WORTH the FIGHT for good health. Hope this helps. |

Rep Power: 14 | | That 3lb weight increase is basically food in your gut, (between plate and bowl, you might say) not fat. Your body could not store 3lb of fat in a night!
I have a cheat night on fridays, where I get to eat as large a takeaway meal as I like. I weigh myself every day, except saturday and sunday. By Monday, the weight is gone.
I also like the incentive of the daily scales, and it's helped me avoid late night snacking, but the only number that matters is the friday morning weigh in, and what the tape measure says. |
