Another Newbie Here!

Hey everybody, I would like to say how awesome is this site? Like I never really thought about it before but just the encouragement and such, is all I really need. My family doesn't help much so I'm hoping people here could give me that extra bit of support I need.

OK a little about myself.

I have always been upset with my weight, well ever since i hit about 13yrs old, i started to gain and gain and gain. Really depressing but I never really "tried" to loose weight until these last 2 years or so (I'm 18 now)

I am currently 5'4 and 206lbs (which is why Im here, I went to the doctor's yesterday because I have strep throat, and when they weighed me I was in shock)

I knew I was overweight but that was an eye opener I guess you could say.

My biggest problem, is I drink pepsi, LOTS of it. It has become a horrible HORRIBLE addiction (yes, an addiction) I can't function without it. And I drink at least 8, 12oz cans a day. Which is just UGH

Oh and if you couldn't tell, I LOVE to type, and ramble about anything/everything. I hope you guys don't mind. I get carried away sometimes.

So, I just really need that extra bit of support and of course I am happy to support you guys too! I think it's great there is a forum like this.

OH and I started a new prescription today actually. It's an anxiety medication and one of the side effects is weight gain (go figure) so HOPEFULLY that wont set me back but it's just another reason to try harder I suppose.

I don't tend to over-eat much, but I don't get out of the house rarely ever either.
I don't like sugary foods, so I think it's mostly my lack of excerise.

I do start work on Wednesday though, and it is a pretty physical job so I hope that will help.

Oh gosh, look at me! I could write y'all a 800 page book on my life if you let me!!!

But I will stop here, because it's a quarter to 3 (am) and well, my eyes are starting to burn from staring at the computer screen.

hee hee, hope to get to know some of you guys and I hope I can get some of this dang weight off with your help!

Later home skillets!

Hey!!

That's awesome you've come here for support and I'm sure you'll love it here.

Exercising was my biggest thing too. Some people can lose mad amounts of weight by JUST changing their diets... not me! I need to exercise and burn it off. Not to mention it makes you so much more healthy to be more active.

I hope you keep checking in with us on your progress!!

Hey Thanks you guys!

Yeah, I have been eating healthy for the last 2 years (not including my pepsi addiction) I have been out of work, out of school and just sit at home. Doing nothing

But I start work wednesday and it's a constantly moving type of job so hopefully that will help

I replied on your thread whitewestie, it can be difficult to navigate some forums, it can take a while, but I'm sure you'll get a hang of it.

My sister is sharing this account now (younger sister)

She has never been "fit" she was a very large baby, and never grew out of it, Biggest 2yr old I had ever seen in person. She is now 146lbs and 4ft 11. she needs a lot of encouragement as well, kids picking on her in school and such is really getting to her. Not to mention the health risks in it.

So yeah, thanks again for the kind words!

Can you reduce your Pepsi by just 1/day as a start? Those liquid calories really add up and they don't give your body anything it really needs.

Or, just learn to like the diet version. It tastes like crap for a few days..but once you get used to it, it tastes fine. I've also heard that coke zero and diet Dr. Pepper have no diet taste at all.

I wouldn't know as I drink water, diet pepsi or Crystal Light.

Well, the problem with the pepsi is that it is a caffeine addiction. SEVERE

I drink 2 a day and by the end of the day I have the worst withdrawls in the WORLD

My head feels like it splits open. The first time I tried with only 2 cans a day, I ended up falling to my knees screaming and crying in pain. and I have a very high pain threshold. It was insane. I couldnt stop screaming, it hurt BAD.

I can try diet though, some diet sodas still have the caffeine.

I have been drinking a lot more water... about 3 liters a day.

But the pepsi isnt good for me in soooo many ways. I wonder if I switched to say caffeine pills if that would help... it's the caffeine thats got me hooked to it.

*sigh*

Thanks though, I will see how much caffeine is in the "good tasting" diet sodas

I think that the caffiene addiction should be dealt with.

I wouldn't recommend caffiene pills. Instead, when you're going through a withdrawal try some excedrin b/c it has a bit of caffiene in it, but it won't feed the addiction.
