Unhappy In need of motivation

Hello!!!
Well, I believe all of the people that are going to read this have something in common with me which is the goal to lose weight. Im 25 yrs old, a mother of 3 kids. Its gonna sound weird but I was in the Military for the past 8 years.. The Marine Corps to b more specific. I do hope I can get the motivation to lose the weight I need, I am currently 165 lbs and I want to get back to 125 or 135 the max. I have no will power, all I have tried since I got out has failed. I was in such a discipline environment before and when I got out last October I gave in to indulge on lazyness. I had my baby last year on Feb so she is 13 months now. My hubby is in Iraq right now and Im praying he will be back in Sept/Oct time and I want to be back to normal by then. Right now we are close to my parents house since my hubby is gone and its sooo hard to eat healthy because im always tempted to eat. I need a lot of motivation and help and I do hope I can find it here.
Thank you for taking time to read my message
God Bless.
Jackie

Love, you are so strong! You have 3 children and your husband is in Iraq (safe and protected) and you were in the Marine Corps! I don't know you but I can tell you this--the motivation factor just depends on how much you really want the weight off. When you lose desire, discipline fades.

What really helps me when I lose motivation, is to think of how good I will feel and my sense of accomplishment after I eat good things, like a plate of veggies with some ranch dip, or some fruit. If I eat, let's say a piece of pizza, I feel guilty after, even though it tastes good. You have to ask yourself if momentary gratification oversteps the feeling of being fit and healthy. I have to ask myself that day and night.

In your case, if it is just a problem with wanting to eat and not so much about WHAT you eat, you should take a trip down to the grocery store and get as much veggies and fruit as possible. If there is a Farmer's market where you live, often the produce there is much cheaper and organic. You can easily lose weight by stuffing yourself with vegetables and fruit, and going for a light walk at least 3 times a week.

Also, if you take a fibre supplement, it'll make you feel fuller, faster, help with body and bowel regulation, and help you burn energy. If you exercise, your metabolism will rise, and that along with fruits, veggies, nuts, protein, and anything else you can find that is unprocessed, will make you feel better about yourself after you eat and you'll see results within a week. Trust me!

I remember reading about a bodybuilder who eats strictly throughout the day, but at 7:00 p.m. every day she eats a mini Mars bar. You can do the same, except replace it with a couple bites of your favorite treat. It will help you look forward to something tasty without cancelling out your progress during the day.

All the best to you!
Reina

Hi! I am also new and started last Thursday on my diet. You have so much less than me to loose (I started last week at 301 and am now 287.5 today! I need to get down to 150 lbs), and I know you can do it! Just think of how good you will feel! I already feel better from last week! I can breath better, walk more peppy, and my attitude is happier! I get a kind of "Natural High" from dieting I guess! Keep in touch!

Hi JackieX,
you know I think that the best thing you can do right now is to keep positive about your personal weight loss goals. I know it's hard to say no to food when you've been using food for emotional comfort and that's understandable. But I think you're strong and all you really need is that push forward and positivity. Like Reina said, you need to visualize how much happier, less-stress free and proud of yourself you'll be when you decide that you're not gonna put this off anymore. The psychological aspect of this is very important. Tell yourself "no more, I've had enough...I want to be happy and I want to get back into shape!"

Now let me fill you in on something else positive. You are a young mom and to have been in the marine corp. like yourself then you have to be an athlete...no doubt about it! Now the great thing about that is that your body will adapt very quickly to a new workout regimen. After years of physical fitness, muscles have a tendency to memorize this. This might sound crazy but I've played competitive soccer my whole life and am also a natural athlete...so I known that this is FACT! In all honesty if you commit yourself to gettin fitter, the 30 lbs. your wanting to loss should shed in about 1 to 1.5 months. It's really not that much weight, a solid month would show some incredible results!

I hope I've helped out some what...but I would also recommend that you focus on nutrition too. I've wrote some articles outlining the basics of weight loss, and I think you should check out the link just to get a refresher on things
Good Luck
-Bela

Talking

Thank you all for the replies... I appreciate the support and I think Ive been using food for emotional support like u said. I guess I feel as if Im able to lose the weight if i want to and I use that as a crutch to keep on eating.. basically to keep on postponing my healthy living. I do need to change my mind set and sometimes I find myself critizicing the way I look. Thank u once again for the motivation and I will take it one day at a time, everytime I say I will do something I end up not doing it and it always happens like that .
Ill keep u posted with the progress and I will try to stay away from my hispanic food that I love.

Much Love,
Jackie

A great motivator can also be your kids!! Firstly by you thinking that you don't want them to grow up with unhealthy habbits, so next time you reach for chips or something, remember that your kids are watching, and try fruit or raw veggies or nuts instead! Secondly, get your kids to help you with your exercise plan (kids love to dance, so doing some aerobics at home is a great way for all of you to have some fun and be active! They'll dance while you do the steps!) or planning to go for a walk every single day at a certain time. This will teach them to be more diciplined and to find time in their lives for exercise and will help you keep yourself fit. Lastly, the biggest motivator HAS to be you! You've got to want it enough to say "no junk, I'm not eating you today" and if you slip up once in a while, don't despair! The hardest part is getting BACK on the wagon and that's what you've got to do if you want to get there. You're a strong, powerful woman and you have it in you to take your life by the reins and change it if you want to, you've just got to do it
