15 months non smoking and 2 stone in weight gained
Hi,
I am a newcomer from Amsterdam in The Netherlands. I am 5 10 and 15 stone. It's weird as I am quite fit having run a half marathon this year, going to the gym all the time and cycling around the city. However since I stopped smoking I can't seem to stop putting weight on. Its two stone in 15 months and rising. I am not eating differently than before...
Any advice? I can't afford to start smoking again as the money saved from not smoking is being spent on bigger clothes....:sifone :
Cheers

I am from USA..Detroit,Mi to be exact..recently retired from my job and started smoking at the age of 53?!?!?..if I dont smoke, I munch on anything..one good remedy is hard candy, especially lollipops--not many calories, but there is the sugar--you can get them artificially sweetened tho--I use Tootsie Pops..not sure if these available in Netherlands, but then how would I know...welcome to site..hope to see you here again..oh yeah..How much is a stone in pounds??

Try logging everything you eat. You are most likely gaining weight because you eat more calories than you are burning (even though you exercise daily).
Find your caloric needs (try a google search for "daily caloric needs calculator"). Then, aim for a number of calories lower than the number you need to maintain weight. If you consume 500 calories less daily, the theory says you should lose about 1 pound per week.
Good luck to you! I have no experience smoking, but I hope I could be some help.
