Rep Power: 5 | | | Newomer from the UK needs motivation please Hi all
I need a bit of help and advice if possible as I sit here stuffing my face with a chocolate bar and next to be an apple pie. I am in my 30's and I have just spent the past year getting to grips with an alcohol problem which in reality I have had from being a very young age.
I've worked hard to stay off the booze for a year, lost all my weight then I started a new job (after getting confidence back) which was through the winter and everything went pear shaped. Partly due to winter blues, partners working hours and just generally finding the whole routine thing difficult with young kids etc.
I have managed to pile the weight back on as I eat rubbish and can eat in ridiculous patterns. I am fed up of returning to weight classes and have just realised after dealing with an alcohol problem and learning to deal with my emotions in a grand fashion, I feel I may have turned the habit to food now instead although I dont think my relationship with food has ever been brilliant.
I love food, enjoy food and I never go over a certain weight, something kicks me into action. This time round, Im finding it very hard to get motivated and I so want to learn how to control portion sizes, say no at times of stress etc etc etc and would greatly appreciate some help to stay within a certain range. I feel like a complete failure because my weight goes up and down. I don't want to be stick thin, just lose a healthy 2 stone in weight or around (21lbs) is ideal.
Thanks for being there.

welcome to the forum! there's lots of useful info in the stickies and everyones very supportive and encouraging. there's lots of stuff like challenges, clubs and diaries which are great for accountability.
glad to hear your managing to beat the alcohol problem, i think addictions come in many forms...and i know for sure i'm a recovering food addict, i know it may sound kinda dumb to others but for me food is my drug and after being over weight all my life i'm finally trying to turn my life around...it hasn't been easy but i'm hanging in there and loving myself more and more everyday for it.
wishing you all the best as you embark on this journey, some of us have 200lbs to loose and others 20lbs but at the end of the day we all need to work damn hard to get it off which is why we all need each other to support each other every step of the way.
okay sorry for rambling, just wanted to say welcome! Quote:

Rep Power: 5 | | | Cheers Thanks Cherry, I needed that, you have no idea how much others encouragement can do for you, well you probably do after being on this forum. Thanks for the well wishes, other wonderful people helped me with my alcohol issue and I decided its now time to learn how to deal with eating issues too.
I got to a very fit 10 and a half stone last year and intend on doing the same, keeping it that way is a different story of which I hope to learn from you and others how to keep going.
Been reading some of your posts and already I feel much inspired by stuff on here. Cheers. |

Good on you for shaking the alcohol problem, if you can do that mate you can surely do this. Just enjoy a nice pint on the weekend if you need to and eat healthy and do some excercise during the week if this is what you want to do.
Best of luck to you and I'm sure you can do this.

Thanks for that, you are quite right, motivation is key and I am determined, seriously determined to somehow get a better control over my eating without finding excuses all the time. Really great to hear from you. Staying passionate and digging deep are real ways of getting to grips with many things we are not entirely happy about. Cheers for the thoughts.
Dan
Thanks for the kind words, the things we have to work at to stay strong in life. There are certain things in life which get me down, alcohol was one of them so that has gone, and I shall ensure I do everything in my power to keep it that way. Excess weight is another, it gets me down pretty quickly and I know I feel tons better when exercising and feeling slimmer. Its a wonder why the merry go round continues isn't it but us humans are complex creatures. Anyhow, cheers for that I am back off my hols and raring to go. | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
