Rep Power: 0 | | hi neveragain:
all food are good according to me, but we should the quantity only and not abuse of them. like u since years ive been struggling but as i told u u need to look for the motivation.
i dont know for u, maybe by reading success stories of weight loss and also by talking to people like us who have the same problem.
as u proposed,i agree that helping each other by starting wid some petty challenge.
one thing more neveragain, dont hurry too much, try to accept the diet and exercise as a new and healthy life style.
for me to stay motivated,i read out fad diets of personalities but never doing way they do.
i say to myself that they are famous, rich, they do not lack anything, yet they are sacrificing so much. but y cant i simply change my way of eating and b healthy.
dont do drastic diets as well n dont listen to people who advise u to do so. there no short cut in weight loss.
hope we all suceed |

omg.. I HAVE EXACTLY the SAME! I lost about 8 kg until now.. but still want to lose like 15 kg more.. I am doing exactly the same.. doing REALLY good some days.. and then some days I eat freaking a LOTTTTTTTT like there is no tomorrow... and then just doing ok again on other days.. we should stop that!! we have to change our lifestyle...
BTW, I think I can add msn on yahoo thing as well? what ur email then?
Sunday weighing.. sounds like a plan we should set goals for urself on each sunday.. and then we have to see if we've reached that!!

Originally Posted by neveragain Well i've been reading a lot about the subject but I'm just very confused as to what's the % of carbs/proteins/fats that I should eat, since some people treat carbs as the devil and others treat fats like the worst thing ever. So I'd appreciate any advice | If you plot your food on FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal it will all start to make sense to you.
The majority of people see the term carbs and think only of "starchy carbs" - things like potatoes, rice, pasta, bread, cereal. The thing is that carbohydrate is a technical term that is misused when used in that manner. It is actually referring to their chemical composition. There is carb content in fruit and veg. I eat a lot of fruit and veg and therefore have a very high carb diet even if I do not touch bread, rice, pasta etc because of all the fruit and veg that I eat.
The forum uses the term properly. If you enter your food in fitday you will probably see that your current food is quite high in carbs if you eat a lot of fruit and veg.
You want to be making sure that you have healthy fats when you do have fats. One of my favourite ways of having fats is that I often have a salmon steak which has been lightly coated in olive spread (to stop it from sticking) and wrapped in foil and baked.
Things like fish and avacados contain healthy fats - as do things like nuts.
Remember that you also can count the oil that may be in any capsules that you take. I take omega3 fish oils, garlic oil, starflower oil for instance...
If I were you I would log your food in fitday and see how your current foods pan out.
Make sure that you are getting at least 25g fibre a day - minimum.
Also 1000mg calcium - minimum
2400mg sodium maximum
If you weigh 200 pounds with a goal weight of 170 - you would want to eat 100g protein minimum (e.g. half your weight in pounds) up to maybe 170g (e.g. goal weight in pounds).
In this example you would also want to drink 100 fluid ounces of water.
I suggest that if you followed the above your diet would be well on its way to being pretty balanced when you checked it through fitday. |

That kind of thinking is what got me to gain weight in the first place or the "I swear today's the last day I eat like a pig and tomorrow I'll be good from now on" but noo, the next day I'd do exactly the same thing so every day was the "last day" and I'd eat as if it were but the good day never came.
I've been trying to control that lately but it's still hard, everyday's a struggle.
Anyway my msn is k-am2@hotmail.com |

I ate junk anyways.. so it doest really matter now.. and then i eat eat eat eat eat eat and not even stop eating when im really full.. and then im like.. tomorrow is another day.. and I do exactly the same thing.. its driving me crazy |

Oh another quick question, what's your opinion on cereal bars, granola cookies, rice cakes and so
on.. They're marketed as somewhat healthy but reading the nutritional labels theyre high on "bad carbs" and sugar sometimes, although calorie wise they're fine. Do you think they're okay every once in a while when in a hurry or as a treat? Or I'd be better just cutting them out of my diet? I usually have them for breakfast sometimes since it's something that I can just take with me while riding the bus or whatever.
Anyway thanks again for your help
