Emily is on a distinguished road
Unhappy Hi I am a newbie!

Hi I am Emily. I am 20 years old.

I have been down the unhealthy diet road and I would love to lose weight the "healthy" way. I really need the support because I know I will get discouraged when the pounds are not coming off fast enough! Anyway any support here I can recieve will be soo appreciated. I have recently gained 14 pounds. I was 120 and now I am 134 lbs. I am 5'6. I gain weight back so fast because of yo yo dieting. Thnks for reading hope we can support each other!!!

You have sadly learnt that yoyo dieting is no real solution. We are only really truly successful if we make a lifetime commitment to a healthier lifestyle. That does not mean never having a treat again - or going around saying "my body is a temple". Nothing so dramatic...

What it means is that we take up a regular form of exercise and do it all the time. We dont stop because we get to goal weight. We continue doing it into the future. The best form of exercise is something that you enjoy because you will still want to be doing it next year or in twenty years time for that matter. There are benefits to incorporating an element of muscle work into your program - which could be with weights - or could be something like pilates. Check out the exercise section.

Read also the nutrition section - studying the sticky threads - in order to understand how you should build a healthy diet. Then get a free account from FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal and log your food and exercise. You can thus see your calorie balance and whether you deserve to lose weight. You can also check that your nutrition is healthy and set for optimal weight loss (because fitday tells you how much of each nutrient you are getting - e.g. protein, fibre, healthy fat etc).

We decide that we are going to eat healthily into the future too. We do not stop doing that because we get to goal weight - we just adjust the calorie balance so that we no longer deserve a loss...

In order to get that vital support element - I suggest that you start a diary. Also see who visits and visit them back in their diary and leave a message. You may want to visit a few diaries up front too to see whether they visit you back. You thus start chatting and make friends. You can also join challenges and get chatting to the folk there.

Good luck with your project.
