XVIPGirlX is on a distinguished road
Hey I'm a Newbie x

Heyy x I'm 14 and at least want to get down to 9st, at the moment I'm 5'6 and 10st 4lbs. I want to lose weight because I sick of being overweight and most of my mates are so skinny (well apart from 2 of them who are like me).
I naturally eat healthy and do areobics everyday. Sometimes on Fridays I even go to the gym for an hour after school.

At 144 pounds you are not as overweight as you appear to think.

If you were an adult your BMI would calculate as 23.2 which is nicely in the middle of the healthy range. Even if the BMI calculates slightly differently for people your age - you are unlikely to be anything more than borderline between healthy and the very lower limits of overweight.

I would focus on eating healthily and doing some form of exercise. It sounds like you are doing that already. It never harms to read the nutrition section of the forum.

Be sure to watch out for junk. Not only can sweets affect your weight - but they can cause things like spots too - which is not what you want...

Do not go through life comparing yourself with your friends. In this life we are not carbon copies of each other. We all have friends with different talents to ourselves.

It will not harm to keep an eye on your weight and on how your clothes fit. If things increase - it would be wise to flag it up to someone - possibly your parents. I wouldnt worry about it too much though.

What Omega said. )

Another thought is that you may not really need to lose weight, you may just need to shape up (what some people refer to as "toning") what you've got.

I would suggest looking into weight/strength training or body resistance work. Since you have a gym to go to, then really investigate lifting weights. Check out the threads in the Exercise forum, especially the ones by Steve.

Don't be afraid of "bulking up" or anything like that. It's simply not possible to bulk up and get "muscle-y" w/out putting a lot of effort into it. But basic weight lifting will help shape your muscles, and give you that lean, fit look that most people want.

Sometimes it's not about weight, necessarily, but about making the most of what you already have!
