Rep Power: 0 | | | Help I dont know how to start!!! Hello my name is Cesar and im from Mexico.
Im 21yrs old and I dont want to sound desperate or something but I realized that I need to loose weight not because I wanna look nicer but for my own health. I weight 100kg (Is like 220.46lbs). Previously I was loosing weight because I haven't a job and I was eating healthy food at home but it was like 3kg not a big deal.
And now I want to loose weight for my own health as I said but I don't know much of the exercise world, I don't know what do you mean with "sets" "reps" and that kind of stuff, I don't know which is the right routine for me, In short words I don't know how to start.
Can someone help me find out the appropriate routine for me?
Thanks in advance. |

A couple of thoughts for you: first of all exercise is good, but you'll never gain control of your weight until you gain control of your eating. What you eat is 80% or more of losing weight.
Start with registering for a free account on fitday.com or thedailyplate.com and log what you eat. You'll be able to see your calories and your nutrients broken down and that'll give you a good place to start to see where you need to cut back and tweak what you eat.
As far as exercise (which is still important for all kinds of reasons, including to maintain lean muscle), read the sticky posts in the exercise forum - especially the ones by Steve on weight lifting. There's so much good information there and you'll get good explanation of workouts, exercises, sets and reps, and so forth. |

Rep Power: 0 | | | Thanks KaraCooks for the reply and I never imagine registering what I eat... I don't know if this matters but previously when I was loosing weight ate 1 time a day with no exercise and now some times I eat 2 or 3 times a day, the same amount and the same kind of food...
I don't know if you are trying to tell me "eat less food" or "eat less times a day"???
I will follow your advice... Thanks again. |

Rep Power: 85 | | It could well be the case that you need to eat different food.
Quite a lot of us end up heavier than we would like to be because we eat food which is not healthy or not prepared in the healthiest of ways. A lot of us need to look at the fat and sugars in our diet.
I strongly recommend that you read the nutrition section. There you will see a lot of good advice on nutrition.
It doesnt matter how often you eat twice a day or six times a day - really doesnt matter for weight loss. What matters is the total number of calories in your food and whether or not you have enough of the nutrients like protein, fibre, healthy fat, calcium, vitamins etc that is inside the food that you eat.
Fitday will allow you to see these calories and also the nutrients.
Log your food and exercise that you do and you will see the calorie balance. It will calculate how many calories you eat and burn with exercise and the balance is whether you deserve to lose weight or gain weight.
From reading the nutrition section you will be able to set nutritional targets for yourself - and make sure that you hit those. When you hit those and keep a calorie balance that deserves a weight loss - you will lose weight while making your body really healthy. |

Rep Power: 72 | | Yes, what Omega said.
Eating fewer times a day doesn't matter if your'e eating too many calories. By the same token, even if you eat very little food, if it's very unhealthy, high calorie food, then you won't lose weight either.
The bottom line is that you have to eat fewer calories than you burn. Whether you do that by counting calories or by eating healthier foods and controlling your calories that way ... that's the answer.
AS Omega said, read the sticky posts in the various forums. There's lots of good information there. |

Rep Power: 85 | | | Most people find that they eat out of a comparitively small range of food items.
When you discover what something is called you could make a note of all the information for the item. Then set up a custom food as the Spanish name with the same information. You can then look in the custom food list and use the name that you are most comfortable with. | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
