I agree with Omega.
Although cutting back on the soda is a good start, skipping dinner is not. And continuing to eat junk will not help either - with your health or your weight.
As far as exercise, yes, exercise will help you burn
calories, which will help you lose
fat. And lifting
weights (properly) will help you maintain muscle while you burn
fat.
BUT ...
Again it all goes back to what you eat. If you skip meals and put crap food in your
body, then you won't have the
energy to exercise properly. What will wind up happening is that you'll lose weight if you cut back, sure, but you'll lose muscle as well as
fat and wind up flabby and out of shape. If, that is, you're able to sustain a
diet of one meal a day.
Ideally you should be eating a variety of healthy foods pretty much in this order:
Lots of veggies
Lean meats and proteins
Grains and complex carbs
Fruits
Plus, as Omega mentioned water water water. The American
Sports Medicine Association recommends a start of 1/2 oz of water for each
pound you weigh. More if you workout a lot and sweat a lot. If you can't stomach that much plain water, you can try things like fizzy water (seltzer or club soda) with a little (very little) fruit juice added for flavor, or some of the low cal drink mixes on the market (like Crystal Lite and similar).
