Rep Power: 0 | | | Hello! Hi everyone! I have to admit, this is my first time on a message board like this, but I am in need of some help. I am the heaviest I have ever been in my life and I just got engaged in April. My fiance and I have been dating for 2 years and we have known each other for the past 6 years. I have gained most of my weight since we have been dating and something has to give. He's overweight as well and we have tried a number of things together to lose the weight, but nothing has seemed to stick. I can't imagine myself being this overweight at our wedding! Right now we set a date of April 2008. When we told our families they were both suprised the date was so far away. I almost had tears in my eyes as I had to explain the only reason we were waiting 2 years to get married was so we could lose some weight. I started a diet last week that seems to be working out so far, and I've recruited some people to exercise with, but I'm still so afraid it will turn out like every other time I've tried to lose the weight... so I thought I'd solicit some outside help! I'd love to hear from anyone with pearls of wisdom, anyone that's been in a similar situation or can relate while I spend the next few days poring over the posts that are here |

It won't be like "every other time" if you decide to make this a lifestyle change and not consider it a diet... Diets don't work... it takes some peopel longer to realize that... You and your fiance are changing the way you live now... Doesn't mean that you won't be able to have the foods that you love.. it's just learning portion control and moderation...
You can do this and we'll offer lots of support and encouragement along the way... |

Rep Power: 0 | | Welcome! You'll love it here.
I lost 20 pounds over a period of 9 months just by portion control, watching what I ate, drinking lots of water, and walking. It wasn't a diet as such, but worked for me. Even though I've plateaued for approximately the last year, I've managed to keep most of it off. I've fluctuated between 196-204 and currently at 201. You can...and will...do this. You'll meet some wonderful people here who will help you to fit into your wedding dress. | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
