Hi, New and need some advice please

Hi, I'm 19M. Well here's the story, I've always been overweight. The chubby kid pretty much but in sophomore year of high school I ballooned up from 230 to 280. I stayed that way until about end of junior year and here I am now. I currently weigh 185, but my diet was pretty harsh. It contained very little carbs and mostly fruit (yah I know, it's bad). I worked out for about 30 min at night, 10 pm to be exact, on the treadmill. A mixture of running and walking and I DIDN'T drink ANY water after my workout. But I made sure I drank a ton of water throughout the day... probably around 4-5 bottles worth. So after working out I'd surf the net for bout an hour or two and go to sleep. Well, because of my bad dieting habits I have some excess fat around my stomach. At first I thought it was loose skin but it feels really firm so I'm assuming its loose skin with fat under it. I really need some help on pretty much everything... what to eat and what excersizes to do to correct this process or get rid of the fat around my stomach.

Again, I'm 19, male, about 5'9-5'10. I'm just mainly looking to tone up my stomach and get rid of the loose skin/excess fat under it. Thanks guys!

Hello!

Hello!! Welcome to the site! It's good to see that you've joined because you want to do something to help yourself. I'm going to give you advice that was given to me when I first joined this site and that is to go to Free Diet Plans at SparkPeople and join that site as well. (It's free) It really is a wonderful site. They give you meal plans and track your exercise and tell you how many calories you need to burn per week. There are tons of helpful articles... things like Why it's important to drink 2-3 glasses of water in the hours before you work out, drink water DURING your workout and then another 2-3 glasses in the hours after you work out.
Another big thing... Theres not really such thing as "spot" toning... To firm up your stomach you first need to burn fat with cardio and then use strength training to tighten up the muscles. And with doing cardio, it's going to melt away everywhere, not just in one spot. So don't be discourage id if you don't see results right away... It took how long to gain that weight, it's going to take some time to lose. You're on the right path though.... It's a big first step to losing weight and getting a healthier lifestyle. So Congratulations! Goodluck!

welcome, almostthere!
first i'd like to say congrats on your success this far and congrats for realizing that you need a more healthy/stable diet. i think that may be a key factor for you. i'm not a professional anything - relating to exercise/nutrition - but i just read a lot you could say.
but yeah - definitely just research healthy eating and maintain your exercise. also, make sure you get adequate, rest etc., and you'll definitely get there! good luck!!!! everyone's here for you. this is an awesome board.

Well done so far! I'm of the opinion that you can't really have too much fruit, but lots of people would argue with me on that. When I was in high school, about 17 years ago, I managed to shed a lot of weight by eating lightly, but allowing myself unlimited access to melons such as cantaloupe, honey dew melon, watermelon etc. I already found them irresistible, so if I was really hungry I would eat a big slice or two of those. I dropped about 20 kg and was very healthy. (I wasn't replacing meals with them, I was eating a very balanced diet and replacing snacks with melon).

Then I lost my way and ate too much bad stuff for the next 10 years and... well, I'm sure you can guess!

Some fruits are very high in carbs, so you may not have had as few carbs as you think.

Anyway, welcome to the boards! There's a lot of support and information to be found here.
