A new start!

Hi my name is Michelle and I have made a commitment to loss weight. I lost 35lbs the same time last year and hit a stress patch and gained it all back. I kidded myself and ignored the weight gain. I am soooo aggravated with myself. I quit smoking years ago by telling myself that I was not going to let that cigarette control my life anymore and that is how I feel about food now. I use it to calm, console, satiate and punish. I am 37yo and have basically hide from life for the last 9 years. I know some people can be happy when they are heavier unfortunately I am not one of them. The weight cause me many health problems and I just got to start living. I am joining this forum because 1) I like forums, the enable you to really speak how you are feeling 2) I need the support 3) I need to be held responsible for my weight loss. I want to lose 46lbs….

Food has turned into my drug of choice and I hope to kick it before it kills me.

God bless,

Michelle

Talking Welcome

Hi Michelle
Welcome to the forum. If I didn't know better I'd think that (your story) was written about me.
I have used food to control many areas of my life and when it is stretched my health is what fails so my body is screaming out no more so i have to do something.
I find this forum very useful in venting and also the positive feedback is wonderful.
I am currently doing the Cohen's programme and it is fantastic this is my 3rd week and I feel fantastic and I am also fitting back into some of my clothes already. Cohens has it's owm forum linked to this and their are many of us from all around the world.
What are planning to do for weight loss?
Remember when you hit a plateau that is when you need to increase exercise this is when most of us give in, and we gain wight back rapidly.
All the best
Sam

Hi Sam and Sprite!

I have had success with the 20/30 plan. It is really an easy plan to follow. You just don't eat more that 20g of fat and 30g or more of fiber. But I don't know... I have decided to try and treat this like any other addiction. I keep telling myself "eat to live, don't live to eat". I don't drink at all anymore. I used to but I would tell myself that I drank to have a good time, well one day I realized it wasn't fun... Food is the same thing... I eat to make myself feel better but it makes me feel good at the moment of consumption. As soon as I ate whatever it was then I felt/feel like crap. Guilty, fat, bloated, etc.

Thank you for the welcome!! I will check out that program.

Michelle

Your story so far could be mine as well.

I don't know anything about the 20/30 program. I used Richard Simmon's Foodmover about 2 years ago and lost 30 lbs. It was really easy and I loved it. Then I got married. ..then pregnant. .and gained all the weight back.

This time, I am taking the information I learned from the Foodmover (mostly calorie counts and portion sizes) and just keeping myself in check. I am letting myself have just about whatever I want, but I'm trying to keep the bad stuff limited to once a day or so.

I'm walking about 1.25 miles a day.

I don't expect the weight to come off fast, but slow and steady. The biggest loser sure can be misleading. 10lbs at a time . . . I WISH!

Anyways, I just wanted to say welcome and look forward to hearing your progress!!
