Smile I'm new. I already lost 27 pounds, but

I wanted to join another forum to learn more about maintaining it and maybe help others with their journey. The Micheal Thurmond 6 Week Body Makeover really worked for me.

Last November, I was 162.5. I'm 5'3" and it was not a healthy weight for me. My goal weight was 138/size 8. I reached my goal about 3 weeks ago and started doing the Leslie Sansone Walk Away The Pounds 2 Mile tapes 5 times per week. I recently got the George Forman walking tapes and have increased my weights for the Leslie Sansone walks. I have dropped down to 135/size 6. I don't really intend to lose more weight, but I do want to shape up, so I will be working on that. I'm still doing 6WBMO 6 days per week with one "Crazy Day" where I have some off plan foods in moderation. This is one of the options in their Living Lean program.

This is the first time in my life that I really feel I won't have to struggle with my weight anymore. I have learned to buy, cook and eat healthy foods and to make time for exercise. I'm a sugar addict, but now I've learned moderation. Binging on things was a real problem for me. I'm very hedonistic that way, but I've learned to stop and think about what is best for me and what I want for myself before throwing down a cinnamon roll and 1/4 loaf of garlic bread. It's just not worth it anymore. I feel so much more healthy and attractive now. Like most of you, I've been on many many different programs.

My sister is obese and very unhappy. Every time I'd see her, it would scare me because I was thinking that could be me. She was aways about a size 7 up until she started dating her husband. After she had her baby, she went over 200 lbs and never lost it. Both my grandmothers were obese as well and one died of a stroke and the other was diabetic and had to have her legs amputated before she passed away. Last Summer, my spry 90 year old grandfather came to visit from Germany and it was another awakening for me. If you don't take care of yourself now, you risk being a mess when you get old. He was always very active. I want to be as independent as I can for as long as possible. I don't have any kids and probably won't have any, so I need to be able to fend for myself.

Anyway, I haven't had a chance to read any of the posts yet, but I look forward to learning and contributing to this group.

Thanks!

Silke

welcome to the forum! maybe you should start weight lifting (not as much as a body builder), but just to tone up.

If you are happy with your current weight and are into toning you may want to check www.worldfitness.com
It's a sister site to this site (if you scroll all the way down tothe bottom of this page, there is a link), but it's not a bunch of muscleheads. Helpful toning and muscle building advice.

I bounce back and forth from one to the other.

You will find out a lot of information on the Provida chat forum. I'm a member there too, but frequently, the Body Makeover Specialists chime in and I'd like to know what the average user thinks instead. I enrolled on this site since nobody is trying to sell me on anything and I thought I could get more rounded feedback.

Basically, it's no added fat, salt, sugar and no dairy. I thought I would have a problem with the no dairy, but I didn't. The salt was the hardest to give up, but I got over it by the 3rd week. These restrictions are during the reduction phase, so once you reach your goal weight, you incorporate some healthy fats and other foods back into your diet.

You eat 5-6 small meals a day (ever 2.5-3 hours). You make your own food. They strongly encourage you to eat whole, natural foods. I no longer have anything in my freezer. The only "processed" foods I have no are my no salt added tomato products, some condiments and my low sodium tuna. Everything else I buy is fresh. I take my vitamins daily and suppliment some calcium for the dairy I'm missing. I honestly never ate so many vegetables in my life.

You actually get to eat potatoes and rice on this plan. I had experience with Potatoes Not Prozac before, so this seemed okay to me. I lost my weight and I feel healthier than I have been in ages, so I have no complaints!

You can find it some places as low as $90 (with shipping). If you are serious about losing weight, mentally ready and really want it, this is a good program for you.

Talking Congratulations!

That is quite an accomplishment, keep up the good work. By the way what was your meal plan like? Did you use anything to curb your appetite?
