Red face I'm new...seeking encourgment.

Hey everyone,
I'm Katie and I'm 18 and weigh 220. I don't look it however. My 34DD chest adds on a lot. It's really hard for me to stay motivated. My Mom isn't the healthiest eater and I have a major sweet tooth...and I do the whole emotional eating thing. Coming here and typing out these things is another step for me to try to commit myself.

I'm not going to drink and regular soda and not going to eat after 7 at night. I'm going to drink lots of green tea and eat smaller portions. I'm going to exercise on the Gazelle for an hour every day.

I have clothes I want to wear in July when I go to Brazil. So, I basically have 6 months. I'd better get started.

Any encouragment would be deeply appretiated.

Welcome and congrats for taking the first step! No soda and portion control is a great start. Eating after 7pm is ok, as long as what you are eating is healthy and fits into your eating for the day. Cardio in the gazelle is good too. I would recommend some strength training as well. Best of luck to you!

Yeah, I will add that making a "no eating after 7pm" rule sometimes leads to massive hunger, which can be counterproductive at times! How about instead you could try for "only fruit & veggies after 7pm" or something, if you want to be restrictive like that.

Hey thanks, I hadn't thought of that. That's a good idea. I just know that eating late isn't very good and I kind of have a habit of doing that.

Wow, I feel welcome already. I think this place is really going to help.

Hello! I also used to be an emotional eater and my weight went up and down all the way thru high school. Now, Ive finally got it under control and working on those last 20 lbs. I'll have to agree with the others when they say that you should add some strength training to your diet. That will really help tone your muscles. I hope everything works out for you! Keep me updated on your progress!

Watch the green tea at night, too. It's pretty potent, caffeine-wise, so it can cause you some sleeplessness. If you are going to replace soda, you might find yourself craving sweet drinks, and Peppermint or Liquorice teas are both sweet tasting, but have no sugar in them. I would have a hard time without them... mmm... be back later, I'm going to try this new Apple Spice flavored tea I found... Thanks!

Heya's Bi,
Nice name lol! Good goal you set to Brazil!! You can do
it and as far as sweet tooth I have found a ton of healthier
sweets that range from 90 cals to 220 cals heres a few
These are made by weight watchers double chochlate cake(220 cals 7 fat)
strawberry cheesecake(140 cals 4 fat)giant oreo ice cream bars(140 cals 4 fat)Special K honey nut snack bar,vanilla ,starwberry (90 cals 1.5 fat)
Slimfast peanut butter crunch bar taste just like a butterfinger(120 cals 4 fat)! Maybe this will help with the sweets!!Good luck,Tammy

Hi there! Im new to the board here too

I am trying to get myself revved up to Re-lose the weight I lost, then gained again

I agree with the others on the no food after 7pm rule, try it, but dont be to hard on yourself if it is too much, maybe aim for that, and allow yourself some lite snacks when needed.

Good luck..
