Saint is on a distinguished road
Trying to find some advice.

Hello,

I am a 22 year old male 5'9 and weigh about 220 pounds and need some weight loss advice. I think I have a problem with over eating. All I ever want to do is eat. I eat when I am not hungry or bored and some times sneak food because I am embarrassed that I eat so much. I drink tons of pop and eat alto of junk food. I eat to the point where I make myself sick and have stomach pains. I tell myself I will never do that again and that I am going to go on a diet. But the next day I do the same thing and I cant stop. I never eat breakfast or lunch during the week and pig out during dinner and before I go to bed. I think I have some sort of addiction. I feel so pathetic and disgusting. I am fat and have man boobs that make me look deformed. I will never wear any less that two shirts and swimming or exposing myself in any way is out of the question.

I am determined to go on a diet and try to loose weight. If anyone could give me some advice on how to get more will power or fight my addiction I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

Hi Saint,
Welcome to the WLF and good for you for realizing it's time to get in control!

First, it doesn't sound like a diet you need - because following any diet will make you lose weight - the problem will come when you go "off" the diet, go back to your old eating ways and then regain it all.

What you need to do is to change your lifestyle.

Go back over your post and you can see all the things that you can do to start changing your diet.

Start by eating breakfast and have your big meal around lunch time - you'll be less inclined to over eat come dinner. Start cutting down your portions, don't sneak food - when you want to binge, drink water, have some gum or go brush your teeth. When you start to binge, put the food down and go for a walk.

These are all things you can start doing right now.

Check out Free Diet Plans at SparkPeople or FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal and start recording what you're eating so you have a good idea of exactly how much you're consuming, how much you need, and where you need to reduce.

Head over to our diary section and create a journal where you can keep track of it all.

Read some of the diaries there - they can be BEYOND inspirational.

Just remember that you CAN do this. It's one day, one meal and one pound at a time.
