greetings and salutations

Hi all. I'm a 27 yo college student. I decided it was time to drop some weight, and have been dieting/walking for the last 2 weeks. I'm 6'2" and am tipping the scales at 240 lbs. When I started I was closer to 245-250. My bmi has me calculated as obese, and while I don't feel like I am obese, Ive decided to drop some weight.

My goal is to get down to 215 lbs. I've been eating anywhere from 1200-1800 calories daily, as well as walking between 2-3 miles every evening. I'm looking for some suggestions and/or guidelines about what I'm doing overall. More exercise, less calories, etc...

My main problem that I've encountered so far is every evening between 11 and 12 I become so hungry that I can hear my stomach rumbling. Its hard to not eat, but when I do I try and make sure it is something low in calories. Any suggestions on how to get over this hump would be appreciated as well.

I look forward to contributing to the forum and look forward to reaching my goal!

Welcome to the forum!!!

As a man, and a very tall man at that, your base calorie intake should be no fewer than 1800 calories. As for the night time rumbling - I can relate to that! I usually chug some water on those nights, if it's really bad then I drink 1/2 milk and try to occupy myself until it passes.

Good luck with your goals!

LOL! I love Star's suggestion - just go to bed an hour early, and you'll never hear the grumbling

Like Pequin said, your base calories should not be too low and 1200 calories is too low!

Up your protein and fiber perhaps, and maybe plan your meals (5-6) throughout the day to incorporate those hungry times.

Best of luck and welcome to the WLF
