flossyflea is on a distinguished road
Red face Shy Newbie

Hi
I find it difficult to go to places on my own as I am quite shy when I don’t know people, and I go in on myself. On Tues night I decided I was going to go to a Slimming World class the following morning for the first time, but as usual I changed my mind and didn’t go for the reason’s I have just given. Anyhow I came across your Forum and thought that this would be better for me and decided to try…so here I am.

My name is Frances and I am 44 yrs old, married for nearly 9 months now, no children but I have a little Yorkie called Ben.

I first weighed myself on the:

14th Jan 11st 3.8lb - BMI 25.7 B/F 37.3%
21st Jan 10st 12.6lb - BMI 26 B/F 37%
28th Jan 10st 11.8lb - BMI 25.9 B/F 36.8%
4th Feb 10st 10lb - BMI 25.6 B/F 36.3%

I was doing 100 sit ups a day but it is playing havoc with my back so am now doing them every other day. I am also doing Rosemary Conley’s GI Jeans Weight-Loss Exercises, but have only been doing the ½ hour gentle aerobics at the beginning of the DVD so far. I am averaging around about 900 to 1000 Calories a day and have cut out Chocolate, sugar, and as much fat as possible. I eat a lot of Vegetables (steamed) but the only fruit I will eat are Pears and then only 1 a day. I will never give up Yoghurts as I love them but I only eat Low Fat ones. I only eat a little breakfast as I am not a lover of it really and it is a chore to have to eat it as it is. I am hoping to get down to around about 8 ½ st by late summer, but my problem is most of my weight is on my tummy and hips, I have thin lower legs and arms and am of medium build but my tummy is fatty and wobbly. I need help with exercise as my back limits me with what I can do.
We start swimming on Sunday, and will also be able to use a treadmill, I have my DVD to exercise to but I need something else to help me to firm up my tummy and another way of burning up calories other than sit up’s and a treadmill.

If I can get up the nerve I will post a photo of myself next week on the progress page, so any comments on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me to help me on my way?

Thanks for reading my post, I am so glad I came across this forum as it’s great for me to be able to meet other people who want the same thing as me without me feeling to nervous.

Francesanna

hey there francesanna and welcome to the forum you will find lots of support here. first thing i would advise is to open your diary. post there what are your goals and if you have a plan how to achieve it. losing weight takes hard work, but i believe it is all worth in the end.
as for you being shy, you're definitely not the only one. the first time i went to the gym i wanted to escape. after that class i was sooooo happy i didn't. now i go to my aerobics with smile on my face. and guess what i am the biggest one there and noone is looking at me because they're too busy doing their routine lol. but one step at a time
you can check Free Diet Plans at SparkPeople and FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal for some useful tips on keeping track of your calories and all. but for the first week just open your diary and track how much and what you eat on a daily basis. it will help you to see where you need to cut down or add
you can do it! we all can! Lena

Good for you for swimming. It is an awesome total body workout. Don't forget to drink your water.
