Rep Power: 0 | | | Dexadrine for weight loss? During my pregnancy for my now 2 1/2 yr old son I gained 100 pounds (yikes I know, awful). I have had weight problems off and on my entire life (am now 27) getting down to my thinnest (150 pounds) before getting pregnant. I was about 240 after his birth and shot up in the next few months to 300 pounds. I have tried Atkins, South Beach, low fat, low calorie, low carb, slim fast, every diet and pill available to lose weight. I cant seem to shake the weight. After being on a 1200 calorie diet +30-45 mins vigorous exercise 4-5 times a week for a month, I have lost 12 pounds. My doctor just prescribed to me Dexadrine for weight loss. I havent started taking it yet, but looked on the web and found it was a drug for ADD with weight loss being a side effect. Has anyone used it for weight loss or have any ideas? I would like to lose about 143 pounds now, the quicker the better. I can keep it off once I get rid of it, its just the losing weight part I cant seem to get.
I am desperate to lose weight and quickly, I dont want to take a year or more to lose this weight, my self esteem is simply nonexistant now. I am very depressed and always tired, I have no energy for anything any more! please help! My doctor has taken all kinds of tests and cant find anything wrong with me, I feel so hopeless

Rep Power: 11580 | | | Tiredness has been a big problem for me also even more so once I started eating properly but at about the 12th week in I noticed a huge difference. I wasn’t waking up as tired anymore either. I have found that im not as depressed as I was and im having more fun. You should get some photos of yourself now because you will be surprised at how quick your body will be changing, and you wont notice it until you see the before and after photos. Take photos about once every 4 months you will love it and see all your hard work is making a difference. Good luck with your weight loss your doing better than you think. |

Rep Power: 0 | | I agree 12lbs for the month is good.as for the dexadrine it is a drug used for ad/hd and is highly effective in treating it. the weight loss is one (of many)of the undesired side effect of the drug, i have never heard of it used for weight loss,so i cant relly give you any info on that.
but what i can tell you is although it looks like you have a long road ahead it can be done.i know it seems like alot of weight to loose but taking it one step at a time and making small changes will help.ive been there,so i know where your coming from.we are here to help you and glad to do it too and im sure you'll be helpfull to all of us too

Rep Power: 7611 | | | you are lucky to be able to get that stuff first of all so make sure you dont abuse it in your hurry to lose weight. in the past i was never able to get any doctor to let me try weight loss meds so i ended up paying an arm and a leg for it over the internet. also, if you think your going to lose 100 pounds in less than a year your kidding yourself. i know it seems really far off from now but if you start now a year does go by quickly. just think if you had started last year where you would be now?
12 pounds is great for the first month. keep going and let us know how it goes! |

Rep Power: 3742 | | | Just remember to watch your diet and exercise everyday... even if its in like 10 min increments... unfortunately you cant rely on pills or anything like that forever..so just slowly try to make some good changes so that you can stay healthy for the long term and lose the weight. |

Rep Power: 142553 | | | I understand your wanting to loose weight so quickly. However, loosing it quickly has lots of negative effects on your body. One is that your skin doesn't get the chance to tighten up. THis happened to my mom and she has alot of extra skin hanging off her arms and legs. Not exactly attractive. |

Rep Power: 0 | | | I totally empathize. My story is almost the same. My doctor put me on Meridia which helped me to lose 60 pounds. What i also found out was that the stimulant helped me to focus and feel better. It was like that little voice in my head that told me I was fat just shut off. I didn't think about food all the time. Well, my insurance stopped paying for it. I ended up being diagnosed with ADD and they put me on Dexadrine and I am having the same resluts that I had with the Meridia. Just be careful though because it is a stimulant and you must avoid caffeine and keep track of your moods. My dose was too high and I became really irritable and detached. I'm good to go now and have lost 80 pounds in total. Good luck!!!! |

Rep Power: 4123 | | | Amphetamines are extremely addictive, and you WILL have a problem laying off the stuff once you reach your goal. Also, the appetite suppression effects do wear off after a few months for most people. If you are able to eat 1200 worth of calories a day, why would you need an amphetamine?
I strongly recommend against it.

Rep Power: 0 | | Wow. I recently changed doctors and the new one gave me a physical and the only thing he found was that my blood pressure was a little high. So he prescribed a lite bp pill. We discussed my weight, 243, and he said that once the blood pressure was under control, he'd start me on Meridia. Well today at my appointment, the blood pressure is down and good, but he won't give me Meridia. The reason? Because I have a bad knee and can't do strenuous exercise! Huh? Lets see if I got this straight? I have a bad knee that would be greatly helped if I lost weight, my blood pressure would be helped if I lost weight, but I can't get help losing weight because my blood pressure is up and I can't exercise because of my knee. Talk about a catch 22! I am so frustrated right now I don't know where to turn.

You will lose weight quickly on it; however, you can also gain weight just as quickly once you go off of it. It will suppress your appetite but once you stop you'll probably be starving and have a lot of trouble maintaining your diet. Honestly, be smart with it and listen to your doctor. And make sure you use it to supplement your lifestyle change instead of relying upon it. Wish I could get some!
Good luck! |

Rep Power: 0 | | | Hi my name is melissa and I have tried everything known to man, Atkins, slim fast, EVERYTHING adapex, phetermine, well about 2 months ago my doctor gave me dexadrine and I dont like stuff that makes me jumpy, so I was worried about that, but it does not affect me at all the only side effect I have is dry mouth, But I am on it and I was 240lbs now I am 204 its the best pill I have ever takin. Im in a 12/13 again and never felt better. I can be in a room full of people eating all my favorite foods and I cant even touch it, now thats got to say something, you dont have to increase your dose or take more and more, its very effective if taken the right way, good luck. Im 32 and I never thought I would find something that works but this definately does...
