Rep Power: 1347 | | Hey there, just wanted to say hello and let you know that i also have had that problem. You are not alone at all!!! I used to binge so I know where Nataliejo is coming from. I also know that for a lot of people just the word diet makes them have hunger pains. Our minds really do trick us because we make food such an important part of our social enjoyment (not just the nutritional importance)
Food makes me happy...lol. Im learing how to make food much more healthy so that the enjoyment for ME is there, even if it is really good for myself. My friend has a weight issue like myself, and we always used to meet for lunch or dinner...now we meet for walks and a tea..
Its tough to change

Icebunny, it also helps me to look at myself in the mirror when I am obsessing about food. I mean go in my room and take my clothes off and think about whether or not I've already eaten enough cake or pasta or whatever in my life.
Glad to meet you and good luck! | this is a good idea, I think it may work for me!!

Rep Power: 1324 | | | Hey, I feel like that too... always thinking about food/looking forward to the next meal, exercise, deficits... I think I am a bit less obsessive than when I started... maybe... but I guess I haven't really been going that long so there's still hope for me! I'm just trying to tell myself to chill out really... owell, good luck. Oh and that was an interesting point that was brought up about binge eaters... I used to binge... maybe that has something to do with my obsessiveness now.

Rep Power: 1494 | | | I'm happy to hear the naked tip might work for you, but it will only work if you seriuosly do it. Most people (especially me) don't like to be held accountable, but that is what you need to do with yourself! If you don't, who will? It is sad to say but after years in the weight loss business I have found that no matter what most people say the don't care about your weight loss progress. In fact, lots of people's friends try to sabatoge them and are quite jealous. It's really sad that people can't just be happy for eachother.
Well, good luck! |

does anyone else ever feel this way? | Hey there icebunny....
I think it's normal for you to feel this way and I think that it's not uncommon and that most people struggle with this exact issue from time to time. I know I have. I think it happens to me most when I'm bored and it has helped some to try to find something to do away from the kitchen to help keep my mind off of food and eating. A lot of times when I get to feeling like all I want to do is eat and all I can think about is food I get online and play cribbage or gin in Yahoo, surf the net for motivational weight loss quotes and stories, and now I find myself coming here a lot. It really is helpful because it does help to keep your mind off of food and you also can obtain some great support and motivation.
You may also try to look at reputable healthy websites to help you remember why you want to lose weight. These types of activites always seem to help me. A lot of people say to go for a walk when you can't get your mind off of food and that IS a great idea....but sometimes I lack the ambition. So, getting online is a good alternative when my get up and go has gotten up and left.

It's also hard to NOT think about eating. We must eat to survive, to live. In general, the way to go about things is to embrace something instead of rejecting/avoiding something. IMO, the better mindset is to "be healthy" than "lose weight" or "not eat so much" or "don't eat this, that, this, and that." |

Rep Power: 3883 | | | I am 8 days into my diet and have the same problems. I always grab a bottled water. I prefer the Sams choice flavored water with no calories and no sodium. I have a bottle with me no matter where I am. I also find myself watching less TV becuase that was my munchie time with my old habits.
I have also found that the sugar free jello cups are great. Good flavor and gives me just enough to make me feel content with my hunger in between meals or at night.
Good luck!

Good luck! | Hi Scott...I am only three days into my diet, but so far so good. I've stayed on track and have come to realize that this is definitely a 'one day at a time' issue for me. You made some really good points. I, too, always have water or some other non-caloric, non-carbonated drink with me. I really like the little to go packets from Crystal Light and Walmart that you add to 16 oz. bottles of water. Munching in front of the tv was/is also a habit of mine.
Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for the great points and keep on keeping on with your diet. Never ever give up!
Shelby

Rep Power: 0 | | | I haven't had a chance to crave unhealthy foods and snacks since I only started today, but in the past I have had the same feelings. I think the hardest thing for me to overcome is eating out of bordom, and I love my sweet tea, like almost a gallon perday sometimes. I have will power now and am determined to eat healthier and lose this weight. I love this site, its going to be my motivator.
