1. How much sleep do you get a night.
2, How much exercise do you get a day
3. What's your food intake like?
4. How restful a night's sleep do you get? some people, especially overweight people, suffer from Sleep Apnea, a conditoion, that i believe causes them to stop breathing during the night and they never really get a restful sleep.
5. Do you snore (could be related to sleep apnea or could cause you to not get a restful sleep
6. How much caffeine do you get in a day
7. How much fluids do you get in a day - i find if i am dehydrated it makes me sluggish and tireder than i usually am

Have you considered a fatigue treatment program?

The current issue of Body and Soul Magazine (yeah it's a martha stewart publication and super new agey but occassionally it has good recipes had an article on fatigue - it's not on the website yet - b ut one of the sidebars in the article was n feeding the five centers of wellness...

1. Movement
Ask yourself: Do I have a workout routine? How often do I really follow it? When's the last time I did something physical that brought me a sense of joy?
Why: without regular exercis, you miss an opportunity to release stress and gain energy. When you choose an activity you love, you invigorate your soul as well

2. Nutrition
Ask yourself: What's my relationship with food? When I'm tired how does it change? Do I reach for quick energy such as sugar, chips, caffeine
Why: Quick food fixes start us on a dangerous cycle, they let us keep going after our bodies say enough thus futher depleting our stores
Take Action: Choose foods that help you sustain energy. exchange coffee for green tea, refined grains for whole grains, and chips and dip for carrots and hummus.

3. Mind
Ask yourself: What is my levelof internal stress? Regardless of circumstances or life events, am I generally relaxed and happy or tense and sad?
Why: While life events often effect the way we behave, sometimes the way our mind functions is unrelated to our surroundings. Responding to situations while chronically stressed will tucker you out; feeling happy and calm feeds you energy
Take action: Before beginning or starting a new activity, take a few moments to center yourself by simply closing your eyes and breathing. Schedule 20 minutes from the day every day - to unplug from the world by meditating or taking a walk

4. Sensuality
Ask yourself: Do I feel connected to my body sensually and sexually? Do I notice scents that relax me, textures that feel good, and tast4es that satisfy me?
Why: Our five senses are esential from both physical and spiritual survival. when we ignore our senses, w create a primal void that hurts us spiritually.
Take action: Surroun yourself with stimuli that make you happy. Do you love the smell of lavendar oil? Dab some on your neck, does the feel of soil in your hands ground you? don't just repot your houseplants, dig into the earth.

5. Spirit
Ask yourself: Do i feel connected to something bigger than myself? Am I blessed with work that is meaningful?
Why: Lives that provide meaning, purpose and inspiration can be tremendously invigorating, and lack thereof is spiritually draining.
Take Action: Replenish the connections in your life that fill you with a sense of purpose. Grab a camera and go for a hike, snapping pictures along the way. Spend te day with a childhood friend. whether you find inspiration in a church, a temple or a star filled sky, make time for it

tired

This is a great article! Covers all the bases.

One small suggestion too is to make sure you are getting enough iron. there are some iron capsules out now that are easy on the stomach. I take one every night as I have restless leg syndrome and the iron cured it immediately.

Also, if you drink much tea, you could certainly be low on iron. If you drink tea with meals it blocks the iron from absorbing that's in your meal. I've read that tea lowers iron absorption by 30% and taking vitamin C with it, or using orange juice to take an iron pill will boost the absorption by 30%.

I was drinking lots of green tea which keeps me healthy but it made me slightly anemic.

Something else you might want to check out is your Thyroid. It's a gland at the front of your throat, sort of butterfly shaped. It regulates metabolism, and when it goes out of wack, you definitely feel it! I'm hypothyroid myself, and before I was diagnosed, I was cold and tired *all* the time, even when I got 8 or 9 hours of sleep in a night. Another symptom is difficulty losing weight (messes with the metabolism, right?) as well as *really* dry skin. My fingertips used to crack open.

If you have more than one of these symptoms, I would definitely go get checked out. This problem is a lot more common than it was previously thought.

Hopefully that's not it, everyone wants to be healthy, but it's something to think about it nothing else works, and you do have the symptoms.

Need Advise on Vitamin Supplements!

Hey all!
I work out 4 if not 5 times a week. I drink lots of water to stay hydrated and I truly do feel alot better and have more energy. I've lost 17lbs. I started trying to do the right thing with my weight problem (by joining a gym) in December, but I refused to eat the right foods....so really and truly I should've lost way more than this. Now that I'm really serious and enjoying the way I'm beginning to feel I'm going to need all the support and questions answered that I can get! My weight starting out was 285. I walk the treadmill for 30 to 35 min at 3.5. I then hit the eliptical (sp)? machine for 10min. then I do about 30min of weights. My problem is my work ours. I work the night shift. 11p to 7:30a. I go immediately to the gym when I leave. I need to know what is the best vitamin for this regimen. I find that I need a pick-me-up between 5a and 10a. I've been taking b12 but they don't seem to do what I need them to do. What do you all suggest?

Do you have a good night's sleep?
Are you eating enough?
Are you over working ?
Are you taking enough proteins and carbs ?

Answer all these questions by yourself and you will know what you are lacking
