How to track Caloires

Hi Everyone!

Okay, I think I found a flaw in what I'm doing to lose weight. I'm counting my calories and have been on a 1750 cal diet. I'm using fitday.com to write down and keep track of my caloric intake. However, I've just realized that my calorie readings (for lack of a better word) are getting all screwed up and I'm thinking I'm eating the right amount of calories but I'm eating more. Only because I'm writing down what I eat in a day... From Midnight to 11:59pm. The problem... I work overnight. So should I be keeping track of my calories from Midnight to 11:59 pm (the actual day) or should I be keeping track of them from the time I wake up 2:00pm to the time I go to sleep when I get home from work in the morning, 9:00am?

Darn working overnights screwing up my schedule

track from the time you wake up to the time you go to bed... whatever that range of hours might be...

it's your day - so you want to track your daily calories...

tropez is on a distinguished road
I agree with Mal - your day starts when you wake up to when you go to bed.

Plan out your meals Breakfast through Dinner. If Breakfast happens to be at 2pm, then so be it. It is also important to eat your meals at regular intervals. What you eat at each meal may be less important. In parts of Europe lunch is the big meal of the day, but in America it is dinner.

How you record your food on fitday is up to you. It may be easier for you to track days by YOUR day: 2pm-9am rather than 6am-9pm (for example). However, the *average* over time should still be the same.
