Proving to be much harder than it sounds!

I have read through a lot of the posts and while I am finding many that deal with going over the calories necessary for weight loss, I can't find any about going under. I am trying to eat the right kinds of foods and for me the killer seems to be those high in fat, so I am sticking with low fat or fat free everything. I am trying to watch the sodium content, too.

The problem is, now that I am watching what I eat and eating until I feel satisfied, those right kinds of foods still don't add up to the recommended calories. Most days, I am doing good to go over 1,000. This past week there was a day that I didn't stick to it as much and I only ended up with a little over 1500 for the day. The BMR states that 2240 is my maintenance weight caloric intake, so in order to lose I can cut 500 for an intake of 1840. I am burning close to 300 per session on the treadmill (I say close to because it is a little over-shooting the true number) and I do other things during the day like swimming, so I assume this doesn't look good when paired with my 1,000 calorie diet. And I am using FitDay and YES, I am logging in EVERYTHING that I eat, down to the teaspoon of sugar for my coffee.

I am not meaning to be this restrictive at all, I have just never been a huge fan of eating. As long as I have my coffee in the morning, I could survive off one meal a day. I have been like that for years. Does this have something to do with my thyroid? As in because of the slowdown of the metabolism the body also slows down the need for the energy from food? I don't want to burnout.

Thanks

Yes, this does help. A LOT actually.

I think what I may need to do is go back to my old way of eating and then just exercise as I have been doing. I dont think I had such a horrible diet to start with after all. I wasn't gaining weight, just stuck at the same weight unless there were several days where I would eat restaurant food or just plain junk;, so I was apparently eating at my maintenance. This is probably why I dropped 4.5 lbs my first week because I was being way too obsessive about what was going in my mouth.

The only thing I will continue to leave out is the Dr. Pepper and limit the breads/pastas.
