Out for breakfast

What do you eat when you go out to eat for breakfast? I mean every place has eggs, bacon, sausage, pankakes, waffles...but come on that stuff just isnt that good for you..lots of fat. And if you say oatmeal and toast....why go to breakfast...i mean why not just eat at home where it is cheaper? Any suggestions?

hmm thats a tough one. if that was me, i'd save that breakfast for my splurge day. so if i have followed my diet and exercise for the past few weeks and lost weight, i'd go out and have those eggs and toast with a bit of sausage in moderation of course. your right, if your going to have oatmeal why go in the first place?

or

you can go out and have that breakfast and cut out the fluff like the syrup and butter and ask for fruit. i guess it all depends on why your going out, is it because you have to? (ex. breakfast meeting with a client?)

Hi! I have the same dilemna as you. I frequently go for brunch with my fiance on weekends. I love it cos it's the only time we get to just sit and enjoy an early meal together. Unfortunately, the menu is usually really loaded with fat and calories! However, most places do allow you to make a few changes to their menu. For instance I usually choose poached eggs and substitute bacon and sausages with mushrooms and spinach or tomatoes. I also try not to eat all of the runny egg yolk. One more thing ... I usually ask for butter on the side too as the toast they provide is usually soaked with butter! Hope this helps ... it's certainly sad if you have to break a routine because of a diet or give up something you like entirely. I suppose it's all about making good choices. Good luck!

I guess I have more of a question than a comment. When going out, if you get an omlette made of only eggwhites and veggis, is that not a health choice?? I am trying to eat healthier which is hard, but I made an omlette with eggwhites and put in some brocolli, tomatoes, green/red pepper and it was really good, made me wonder if it is bad for you

That sounds like a very healthy choice to me! Check the caloric content of the finished product. That should give you a good idea of whether or not it's good for you. I always use eggbeaters for omlettes and it has very few calories, so I can only imagine that egg whites are the same or better!
