Rep Power: 4 | | Avocado????? Kara told me about the good fats in avocado, so I bought one, two actually. I tasted it today, it's interesting! I'm intregued, but don't really know what to do w/ it. It tastes kind of buttery, so I'm thinking it could be used like a spread, but I do try to stay away from breads (though lately, I've been pretty bad in this area!) What else can I do w/ it? |

Rep Power: 12 | | the beauty of avocado is that you can use it in pretty much almost any dish...i like to chop it up and add a little to either my fruit salad or to my vege salad either way it taste's really great. you could also make some home-made guacamole with it by mushing it up with some finely chopped tomatoes and onions a dash of olive oil and some seasoning and use it as a dip or spread. that's all i can think of for now but i'm sure there'll be loads of other ideas. Rep Power: 45 | | I'm eating it as we speak. I made guacemole by mashing up the avocado with a fork, adding a dash of salt, 1/2 a lime, and 1 quarter small finely chopped onion. I added this to a salad of fresh spinach and cherry tomatoes. Yum . |

Rep Power: 12 | | | I like to eat it all by its lonesome! Another excellent way to prepare it is by adding it to a sandwhich. Turkey bacon, avacado, tomato on sour dough bread. |

Use it as a mayo substitue on sandwiches, mashed up. Or just put slices of it in sandwiches or pita.
Make guacamole (mash, add finely chopped onion, garlic powder, lime juice, salt, cilantro) and serve it with veggies for dipping or serve it with mexican food.
Cube it and make a salad out of avocado cubes, chopped tomatoes, finely chopped red onion, salt, and a bit of olive oil.
Serve slices of it with gazpacho or tortilla soup.
Eat it right out of the skin with a spoon. |

Rep Power: 4 | | I went to track my avocado on my dailyplate and got this great info. Thought I'd post it in case there was some interest.
Calavo Growers California. Avocados have many other vitamins and minerals, but less than 2% of the daily value so exact percentages are not reflected on the nutrition panel. (Information from the Calavo Growers website)
Avocados are considered natural nutrient boosters by giving your body the ability to absorb and utilize important nutrients. When avocados are consumed with carrots, spinach, or tomato-rich salsa, the body absorbs more of the natural, powerful nutrients in them: up to 8.3 times more Alpha-carotene, 13.6 times more Beta-carotene, 4.3 times more Lutein, and 4.4 times more Lycopene than if these fruits and vegetables were consumed alone.
Ounce per ounce, avocados rank highest in the following phytochemicals and nutrients among the top 20 most frequently consumed fruits: Calavo Growers – The First Name in Avocados |
