macronutrient ratio - please help!

Hello,

I am focusing on staying within a ratio of approximately 40/30/30. I have just started to do the calculations and understand that one gram protein or carbs equals four calories and one gram of fat equals nine calories (I think). However, I had a Thomas' Lite Multigrain English Muffin, and the calculations are not making sense to me. I verified the nutrition facts from Thomas' website. Am I missing something? Thanks for the input!

Calories: 100
Fat: 1.5g (13.5%)
Carbs: 24g (96%)
Protein: 6g (24%)

Don't overthink things.

First of all the whole 1g of protein/carb = 4 cals is an ESTIMATE. The proportions also skew when you talk about "Lite" foods and diet foods and enriched foods.

You could make yourself crazy by trying to add all the numbers. Just use a site like fitday.com or thedailyplate.com to input your foods and it'll give you a good idea of where your percentages fall.

Nothing is going to be exact.
