ALways hungry

Hi Everyone! I need advice..I have a problem with always being hungry. Its been that away my whole life. I could always out eat even the guys. Before I never had to worry about it but now I am nearing 160 and wish to get back down to 125ish. The problem is as I said I am always hungry. Is there anything that you guys eat that seems to satisfy the hunger or even better something I can eat until I am stuffed that won't kill the fact that I worked out and ate good all day Any and all advice is welcome and appreciated. Thanks!!!

If only it were that easy.. High fiber, protien foods are good.

What is your current diet looking like? If you give a break down it'll be easier for people to give you good solid imput.

It's hard to say w/out knowing what you're eating now.

Can you give more information - how many calories are you eating or what is your food intake like? Maybe give us a sample of a typical day?

Try with apples, green tea, drink plenty of water or even take small piece of dark chocolate .. It could be helpful...

I face the same kind of problem..maybe every fat person does hence they r fat!

we are fat because we r eating more than we need isnt it? we r hungry all da time! Personally, I feel most of the time its psychological..I feel like eating even after am full!! its greed...reasons I wudnt know!

So what to do? Now adays am practising what I call 'conscious effort'! Controlling my mind.... I calculate what I have to eat whole day say 1500-1600 Cals...and after the meal is done..I make an effort not to eat more..conscious effort..I tell my mind that I can control it! I do not know if its right or not but I have lost 35 kilos. Most of the time I stumble upon and eat 1700 Cals..but there is dis conscious effort of not going beyond.

Rest I ve tried everything ..eating more fibre more protein lots of water...everything works a little...but still hunger doesnt go away. Maybe its from past life..stored in subconscious mind or genetic...who knows?? So for me effort works.

Well, you're probably eating junky stuff. Your body keeps craving the vitamins and stuff it needs from food, but you give it junk and you have to eat heaps more food to get the vitamins your body needs. Sometimes when you think your body is craving food, it is actually craving water. Try to drink 3-5 glasses of water per day, not soft drinks, that just dehydrates you even more. Water is a good filler, if you think you are hungry twenty minutes after eating, drink some water because it could be that your fluid intake is not adequate and that is why you continue to feel hungry.

I've found that making a point of including a healthy fat in every meal reduces hunger tremendously, even on a reducing diet. Briefly, "healthy fat" means fatty fish (e.g., salmon or tuna) and pretty much any kind of plant oil (olives, avocadoes, nuts, seeds). You have to watch portion sizes and count calories pretty carefully if you are doing this because these foods are calorie dense. Very satiating, however.

Another approach is to focus on eating the recommended 9 servings of fruit and vegetables every day. Most fruits and vegetables have so much fiber that it fills you up. Being full of fiber doesn't necessarily stop you from being hungry, but it limits how much more food you can comfortably fit into your stomach.

Combining these two approaches works well for me. You can eat large portions of high-fiber fruits and vegetables, which balances the fact that you have to stick to very low portion sizes for oily foods like nuts.

Others have found that a high-protein diet (100g or more per day) cuts hunger. I haven't tried that, although I'm experimenting with increasing my protein intake.

I do think there is a difference between "being hungry" and "feeling like eating." The trick is to figure out which one is which, and try to resist the urge to eat just because you feel like it even when you are not hungry. The thing is - eating is fun. I don't think it says you are greedy if you enjoy the taste of rich food. Most people do. We just have to learn not to enjoy it TOO much. (Easier said than done).

It sounds like you are doing a good job of controlling those impulses to eat just for fun. Good for you, and congratulations on your weight loss.

Eating a lot of green fibrous vegetables helped me a lot. Also I don't go too low on my calories

i can relate to this, usually after i eat and i know im more hungry, thats when i binge to get full. then again, its the mind that tells you that your hungry or not, not your body.. i am also presently struggling to keep my control in.

currently, i am taking baby steps to change that instead of trying to change them all at once because that would set me up for failure. like i am trying to drink more water before, during and 2x after my meal, usually does the job. but sometimes greed takes in and want more food, not water. so i am still trying to work on that and improving it...

to everyone who says the feel like the OP.

PLEASE post what you eat in any given day. It's almost a rule that most everyone who tries to eat healthy eats a ton of carbs, a lot of which are simple in nature. I'm willing to bet most of your problems hunger wise could be solved with taking your same caloric intake and adding a ton of protein, fish, nuts and veggies to replace carbs.
