Rep Power: 0 | | | Newbie Needs Some Help Hello everyone. I am a new user (just joined today). I am trying to lose weight and get in shape. Just some basic information. I am a 26 year old male im 6 foot 4 and 255 pounds. Luckily I am tall and my tummy doesn't show to much. I have just recently begun to try to get healthy. I exercise daily for at least 30 min. I have begun trying to reduce how much I eat and the amount of calories I eat. My problem is after reading a lot of your posts and what you choose to eat i am sort of screwed. I am a very picky eater and there are very few things i will eat. I do not eat fruits, vegetables, fish, or beans and pasta. I have eliminated junk food and taken my soda in take which was an insane amount down to a glass or 2 a day. I am also a big guy and I get hungry quite often. I am trying to find healthy meals/snacks that I can eat to help me in my attempts at losing weight and getting in shape. Sadly I am a huge meat eater. I also like my white bread and crackers. I was wondering if anyone has some helpful information on what types of food I can eat that will aid in my attempts at losing weight and getting in shape. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I feel your pain. I, too, am a carb lover...which has been the hardest part of trying to loose weight. I am on a plan now by a local weight loss clinic. They suggest only 2 servings of starch per day, that means one piece of bread is counted as 1 starch. My advice would be to start slowly cutting the carbs out. I know it is hard, but it really does work. Good luck!! |

| I'm sorry, you're 26 years old, not 5, get over it...
Not eating fruits or vegetables is unhealthy. It's probably not that you don't like them, you haven't liked the preparation of them. Learn to cook. Figure out what flavors you do like and make your vegetables with those flavors cooked to how you do like them.
You cannot say you do not like something as an adult, unless you have tried it as an adult, tastes change. Start with carb laden vegetables that have fiber first, corn, sweet potatoes, squash... Quote: |

| That's a step in the right direction... how much water are you drinking a day? Soda has no nutritional value and usually contains caffeine which will dehydrate you making it impossible to lose weight.

Rep Power: 0 | | Well, good for you for giving this a shot and taking a step in the right direction. However, I personally find it a little difficult to get healthy without eating healthy and vegetables and fruits are essential in a healthy diet. There are vitamins, minerals etc. that you need that only veggies and fruits can give you.
You dont necessarily need to eat them raw or by themselves. Have you tried veggie soups or a juice extractor for the fruit? |

Rep Power: 0 | | | Thank you Lovely and kzplano. I appreciate the help. I drink 8 glasses of water a day or more. I have tried many different vegetables cooked and seasoned in different ways. I gag when I attempt to eat them whether it is from the taste or the texture I don't know. I have tried veggie soups in the past and was unable to get it down. Fruits and veggies and I just don't get along. I was wondering if there are healthier snack choices out there other than fruits and vegetables. Maybe something like graham crackers or beef jerky or something along those lines.
