Am I getting enough calories?

Alright, this past week i have been feeling really light headed and tired about an hour before dinner. I am thinking maybe i'm not getting enough calories before that time? I have also the past few days been eating a bit under 1200. It's been said many times on the forum that you need to eat at least 1200 or your body goes into starvation made... is the 1100-1200 range okay? Should i eat more calories earlier in the day? any advice would be helpful... I'm including a link to my journal if you want to look at what i've been eating... breakfast usually around 8:30, snack1 10:30, lunch 12:30, snack2 3:00, dinner 6:30... Katie's Diary

Well, your schedule, LOOKS okay, but if you are getting tired and light headed, thats a clear sign your not getting enough. If I were you, I'd throw in an extra hundred calories somewhere before dinner. That's not much and it could be the secret to keeping you from feeling that way. Is tiredness a problem for you throughout the day?? You could try a complex B vitamin, those are great for energy.

I would have a piece of fruit the hour before dinner and if you are still feeling dizzy maybe you should go to the doctors and get a check up just to make sure every thing is ok.

Eat a little more, your body is in starvation mode. Annd when that happens you lose muscle, and when that happens your bodyfat% goes up, and when that goes up you don't like what you see as much. Stay within the 1200-1400 calories range.
Never go under 1200 calories, not good for your health and you'll feel like crap and that never keeps you motivated lol. And as far as the drinking thats a no no lol, your body has to burn up all of the alcohol before any muscle is repaired. I would recommend having 200 calories per meal, or very close to it.

I think food is like an army lol, bare with me on this one, think of an army(or food), if you were to fight another army would you want them to send everything at once or 1 guy at a time? so if you eat a huge meal it breaks through the defenses and becomes fat lol. I'm not sure you get this but thats how I look at it like lol.

I see very little protein lol. Okay I'll stop nagging, congratulations on your weight loss so far, just eat a little more lol, and make sure you drank your water today! have a nice day

Personally, I'm a massive proponent of green tea. It will give you a light boost without making you jittery.

I wrote a thread on the other fantastic benefits from green tea:

Green tea is not a magic fixall.

If you're not sure you're getting enough calories, you need to register for a free account at fitday.com or thedailyplate.com and log what you eat. Do it for at least a week and see what you're calorie level is and how your nutrients break out.

To lose weight, the average adult needs to estimate about 10-11 calories per pound of bodyweight. So, for example, someon who weighs 150lbs should eat around 1500-1650 calories per day.

I'm trying to find where I said it WAS a magic fixall. Wait a second, no one said it WAS a magic fixall!

I suggest green tea because it really does give you energy through light caffeine, and not too much like coffee may deliver on occasion.
