Rep Power: 0 | | Soda is not really food. We'd all better off just eliminating it from our regular diets and looking at it as an occasional treat, like a dessert. |

Rep Power: 18 | | I've heard this also. I used to drink ONLY diet pepsi...rarely ever drank any water at all. Then...hmmm...was it about a month or two ago??? I started drinking water and set a limit of 1 - 2 cans of diet pepsi in a day. I only buy the cans now...I use to go through piles of 2 liters. I typically only have 1 can a day and sometimes none. My weight loss has sped up since going to water. So...there HAS to be something to all this!!! |

Rep Power: 0 | | My experience with diet-soda is that if I dont drink it, or rather have it as a very special treat (in parties and family gatherings, and then only a large glass 2-3 times a month) I actually lose weight faster.
Since I am sugar-free now (that is dont eat any sugar, except fruits of course) my tastebuds have changed dramatically, and in fact I always diluted my diet-soda with some soda-water, since I thought the taste was WAY too strong for my liking.
Now I only have soda-water on a daily basis, and I try to limit it to max. one large glass daily, because if I drink to much I get bloated. I have also figured out how to make my own soda-water with flavor. It tastes so great when you put orange juice (of course pure orange-juice with no added sugar or anything else in it) 1/4 or 1/3 of the glass and fill it up with soda. It actually tastes a lot better then regular soda, very refreshing. Then there is of course the lemon-juice that I like a lot, and if you have a juice-maker you can make juice of all kinds of fruits and blend it with the soda-water, then you know at least whats in your (homemade) soda-pop. The organization that makes the food-program I am on have also many products I can buy in Iceland, and one of those are concentrated juices made only with berries (nothing added), and I always buy the cranberry juice, and its so yummie with soda-water.
In my opinion the diet-sodas are so full of artificial flavorings, color and sweeteners that it cant be good to you, specially if people are only drinking diet-sodas the whole day instead of water. I have also experienced stomach and digestion problems and the pain in my legs gets so much worse when I drink diet-soda. |

Rep Power: 21 | | Well, I have found if you cut calories you lose weight. It has nothing to do with diet soda. I've had diet soda while dieting & also have not had any. Not one bit of difference. By the way I use to drink a min. of a 12 pack a day of diet coke. Sometime in Aug. it will be one year since I have had any soda. I have never felt any better by not having diet soda.

Rep Power: 13 | | | I heard that being addicted to soda is like being addicted to coffee. I knew someone who started drinking cola as soon as she got up until she went to bed. That is so wild but when I think about it, I was addicted to coffee and when I slowly cut down, I was having withdrawls. Literally. That was scary because I never ever thought that coffee was that addicting. How wrong I was. |

Rep Power: 217 | | | I literally had a 2 -3 pot a day coffee habit for years - and I drank good coffee - not maxwell house or folgers - that brown water masquerading as coffee --i drank good strong cuban coffee or espresso... drank it black -so theoretically there was nothing wrong with it... and it didn't affect my insomnia- infact I probably slept better caffeinated... When I gave up coffee.. I had headaches that rivalled migraines that I get... where my hair would hurt... but it doesn't last - the withdrawl headaches last about 3 days... the withdrawk crankiness - well I was cranky before... so... it never goes away |

Rep Power: 0 | | I have recently discovered the new Diet Ocean Spray (cranberry and citrus). It only has 5 calories per serving, no caffeine, and 2 grams of sugar per serving. At most, I drink one diet drink per day, but I would like to totally cut that out. The cranberry juice tastes like regular juice, so I don't mind drinking it (I don't like to drink plain water). Just my 2 cents! |

Rep Power: 0 | | wow, I didn't know that. I stopped drinking regular soda years ago, but I would drink diet soda on occasion..and I did realise that after I would drink it..I would really want something sweet...and I would usually get it. I have been diet soda free for weeks now. |

Rep Power: 0 | | Troutman, I have been soda-free for three months now. It feels good.
I highly recommend just getting rid of soda, be it diet or otherwise. It is not in the slightest bit necessary. | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
