Rep Power: 985 | | | Okay I'm getting way ahead of myself here I know but.. I have to have a compilation christmas cd in a week for the college winter production.
I have been given completely free reign over what songs are used
Thing is I can only think of a few.. obviously I know lots of Christmas songs but I wanna use the ones everyone knows and loves.. as I said a few spring to mind but...
Anyway.. your opinions please, what are THE BEST christmas songs?
Thanks.. xx

Rep Power: 357932 | | | I love:
ave maria - luciano pavarotti is my favorite but there are lesser intense version out there.
O Holy Night - again luciano is the man -but there are good versions
Santa Claus is comin' to town - Bruce springsteen -I am a jersey girl after all
Father Christmas - the kinks
Thank God It's Christmas - Queen
White Christmas - bing and only bing please
Green Christmas -Barenaked ladies
Jewel released a holiday album a few years ago that has some really pretty songs on it
Please come home for christmas the eagles
Boogie Woogie Santa clause -Brian setzer - actually that whole album is fun
Rocin' round the christmas tree -brenda lee
Panis Angelicus -Luciano please but Andrea Bocelli has made opera really accessible and has sme beautiful versions of the classics.
I hate christmas but love the music and as much of a heathen as I am - I like the religious songs - particularly in latin sung by a tenor...

what's the theme behind it? going for all remakes? a blues christmas - modern christmas -a politically correct holiday themed.. no mention of christmas at all...

Rep Power: 357932 | | | i think it'd be fun to consider a theme cd - like christmas music from the movies.. or hte colors of christmas - and the other thing I'd also look at is if you're going towards secular vs non secular songs... and sticking with holiday related...
