I think I almost died today

Sooo, today I was going down a country road doing about 55-60 in my camaro. It just barely started to snow. I guess conditions got worse and i didn't adjust my speed. I started to slide off the road, over corrected went all the way to the left side of the road over corrected again and went fully off the right side of the road into a ditch. I then continued to slide about 25-30 feet missing a phone pole and a tree. I think i got super lucky.

The problem is i really dont want to drive anymore. I think i need counseling...

give up the skateboard car and get a bigger more solid car...

or take a winter driving course on a track somewhere... just to give yourself some confidence... driving in snow takes a little practice..

IF you're not comfortable driving in wintery conditions, you're best bet is to stay home...

Snow shoeing is good exercise...

Motivation is not something you find or lose, have or don't have. It is the product of how you see yourself in the world: active or passive, effective or ineffective, powerful or victimized, normal or pathological.

Camaros are cute little cars... but not exactly winter performance vehicles

besides having grown up in Jersey in the 80s -I have issues with camaros (generally driven by gold chain, hi karate, members only jacket wearing Guido wannabes

Hey, I did that about 7 years ago. Driving a bit too fast on a gravel road after a rainstorm. Hit a rut, overcorrected, skidded, overcorrected in the other direction, went airborne over the ditch a few feet from a telephone pole. Landed in a field, upside down, with the roof of the car crushed to within an inch of my head. Walked away with nothing but a bruise on the side of my knee.

Not only could I not drive for a while, I could barely ride in the car with anyone else. It wears off.

Life sucks sometimes don't it. My SUV was totalled this past summer. My fiance and I were nailed by a granny in a van who made the rash decision to make a left hand turn from the right lane. We rolled and skidded about 50 yards on the roof. We were sooo lucky too. They had to cut the roof off my vehicle to get us out. We were fine, but I ended up with glass embedded in my arm. I am no longer a fan of sunroofs...

I am still jittery about driving. My heart races when vehicles change lanes near me. Its getting better. It just takes a while.

I feel ripped off though. I didn't get the "I survived. I am invincible" feeling or the "Life is so short. I'm going to live each day like its the last" feeling that they show on TV. LOL! Instead I have glass in my arm and no vehicle. I need to have a word with God....

If you SERIOUSLY don't want to drive anymore, defenitely look into PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder). I rolled my dads quad (ATV) down a 150 foot bank and ALMOST got squished, and I get panic attacks even if I see a quad or hear the word quad. PTSD councelling works wonders.

Hey, I'm with ya BigGuy. I did something similar to that a few years ago, I ended up doing doughnuts on an icy road w/ cars comming straight at me. i turned to look at my, then 2 yr old daughter, I saw car headlights on both sides of her head...it was undescribably scary. SOMEHOW by the grace of God, no on hit me, I ended up off the road a bit, but safe. NO ONE that almost hit me stopped to see if I was ok either

ANYWAYS I understand the fear that comes afterwards. It will eventually wear off, till then, just try to relax as much as you can when your behind the wheel ((hugs))
