typepad, blogspot, blogger, wordpress

it really depends on what your definition of user friendly is...

I've only got experience with blogger (blogspot), so if you want some help with it, I'll do my best. Not entirely sure how wordpress is, but it does seem quite good (and a lot of people use it).

I run No More Fat Dad on Wordpress. I really like the Wordpress platform, especially after trying several others over the years.

Both Wordpress and Blogger will give you want you want for making posts. The differences come down to the options. Here's a good/fair comparisson between the two - Pulsed: Blogger vs. Wordpress.com Comparison Chart.

They're both free, so why not create an account on each one and take a look around?

I've found blogging about my weight loss to be a huge help. I get comments and emails about how I'm motivating others and (besides being very humbling) that just pushes me to keep going.

I'll be happy to help if you need any assistance.

I personally use LiveJournal, and have for years. It's pretty easy to just make an account and post with the default settings, but they also have about a million and a half different things you can change to completely customize it as much as you want (free accounts have less options to change, and then there are "Plus" accounts if you let them put ads on your blog which give you more options, and then regular paid accounts get the most).
