Rep Power: 11 | | | Apples were expensive when they used PPC processors. Since going with Intel they've really come down in price to be comparable to PCs. |

Rep Power: 18 | | | Don't get me wrong. I love macs. If you have the budget and want a new machine that is what I would recommend (more due to Vista than anything else). The belief that they are somehow "special" when it comes to creative applications is just out-dated. Mac's do not have "magic files" that automatically produce better art. These days it is all about the software. If you are comparing Windows Movie Maker to iMovie. Yes Mac is much better. If you are planning on running 3rd party software (Adobe products, Quark, InDesign, Vegas) Then a file is a file.
If you would like to do video editing and have a 2700 budget. My advice is spend it on software. A good PC loaded with Premiere Pro, Vegas, and Ulead and Audition will accomplish more than an out of the box Mac with iMovie.
Also, if you working with a web site. 95% of your visitors are going to view it with a PC. |

I meant the reason artist still use them is outdated but that really isn't true either. They use them now because that is what they are used to. The reason they all started using them mostly use of PostScripts and "forks" in Mac's filing system are really no longer issues. |

Rep Power: 182 | | | So I've been messing around with adobe premiere which is the movie software and I can't for the life of me figure out how to add audio, let alone, pause the video to add it.
I screwed around with microsoft movie maker too and that doesn't seem to be able to do it... but I'm feeling dumb as all hell right now so that might be it too. |

Rep Power: 25 | | Well, I've done it in Windows Movie Maker. All you do, is when it comes to the point where you want the video to "pause", just pause it, hit the split button in the preview window to split the clip up, the hit the camera button to take a jpeg (or whatever format it saves in, I forget) of the frame. Then just import the file (if it doesn't import automatically, I forget that as well ), and insert it between the cut. Then just lengthen the duration for however long you want the frame to be "paused".
Just for an example, I used it in this youtube vid: YouTube - EA Skate - my short film
At around the 9-10 second mark, I used that technique, then added a zoom in effect. |

Rep Power: 182 | | | That's exactly what I figured out last night, thanks! But I didn't figure out how to split the clip up in the middle. Hmmmm, I'll have to toy around with it some more today. But I figured out how to take still frames and set different durations. |

Here's the button that splits the clip up for you. It does it at the place you've paused it. |
