Well... It would be nice, but unfortunately, I cannot go back in time!
Anyway, I thought I would start a thread for people to list what they miss or loved the most about being a kid! I know we all grew up in different times which means this thread will be interesting! Please participate! I'll go first...
What I miss the most about being a kid is...
-Eating ice cream on a hot summers day, and the thought of getting fat never crossed my mind!
-Being able to run, jump, ride my bike, swim, and climb trees with ease!
-When the Spice Girls were the coolest girls around!
-I could act as immature and goofy as I wanted to because I was just a kid.
-Not having to worry about things like Love, Jobs, the World, and especially what people think of you!
-The greatest cartoons ever were Rugrats, Hey Arnold, Dexters Lab, Rugrats, Spongebob, Aaagh Real Monsters! And did I mention Rugrats?
-It didn't matter if you were skinny, Fat, freckly, Short, Tall, or Hairy (lol) you could wear bathingsuits, short-shorts, and spaghetti-strap tops and play with your friends without a care in the world.
-Having Mom make you your favorite snacks all the time.
-Getting the stuff you loved at Christmas/Easter/Birthday.
-Believing in Magic.
-Not caring if you were going to get 'in trouble'
-Going new places and exploring new things was always exciting and fun.
-Having all of the time in the world (besides school and homework) to play!
-Summer vacation!
That's just a short list. lol... Can't wait to read yours!
I cared more as a kid about getting in trouble than I do as an adult... being in trouble as a kid meant you got something taken away - or worse -had to stay in the house for a few days - god that sucked royally...
being an adult has taught e that forgiveness is easier to get than permission
having spent 9 years in parochial school -being a kid meant wearing ugly plaid uniforms for 8 years and a really ugly polyester brown herringbone skirt for 1 year... I will never wear plaid or herringbone again - or brown polyester...
Being a kid meant having to have my mother control my hair cut -and always having to have short hair... I will never have short hair again...
Catching lightening bugs... but I can still do that now
Ringing doorbells and running away -i suppose i could do that now.. but people are way to heavily armed these days.
Prank phone calls - again -could do that now but caller id makes it harder...
Being a kid meant an 8:00pm bedtime - during summer that sucked - it was still lightout and I had to go to bed... Adult -I can insomnia all night long
Unless I could take back what I know now, I would not want to be a kid again. I was never happy as a child. The only thing I had was loving parents. I didn't have friends to play with. Being picked on was not my favorite part of the day. My first date was not untill I was 21, and I ended up marrying her (best thing I ever did). Being a fat kid messes with your head.
If I could go back with the knowledge and determination to loose weight, then maybe I would go back and enjoy my childhood.
Even though I'm an old fart..well not really
I do miss my childhood in many ways. I don't miss 1 or 2 things in the past but, I miss
being able to watch yes..rugrats, spice girls (hehe) and at the time I loved SailorMoon
oh the good times. I miss riding the bike every day with my father down at the lake.
I also miss being out until 8-9 playing by the park, or searching for bugs.
Yea, I have a lot of memories I wish I could still do.
