I NEED SOME INSIGHT! pleasepleaseplease :)

I am currently a senior in high school. I moved to a new school the last month of my junior year.

I participated in my old school's color guard, or the flag team, and semi-enjoyed it. I have started doing the color guard at the new school because I figured that colleges like it when students continue an activity. I have found myself not liking the girls on the color guard team here, and I have lost all interest in the activity. It costs about $1000 to be on this team, and I don't want to make my parents pay for all that money for something that lasts only 3 months. Plus, I have practice everyday from 3-6, AND a guard class during the 2nd period of my day.

I just realized that senior year is very expensive, and instead of doing the color guard, I could be volunteering (which I need hours for) or working, so I can save up money for applications, senior pictures, and college.
But then again, if I do color guard this last year, won't colleges see that as a plus?

So what should I do? Please help me out, this is tearing me up.
Thank youu

activities are good on college applications having them thru out your high school career is even better.
Volunteering is excellent on college applications as well

What other activities are available to you? I really don't see the point of doing something that you don't enjoy...

NJROTC is another option, I was thinking about going into the Navy after college so this would really benefit me. I already have two years of MCJROTC under my belt.
But there's also so many clubs I can join too.

I used to do alumnae interviews for my alma mater - and one of the things I always looked for was an applicant who was really interested and enjoyed the clubs/activities they were a part of -and not just doing it because it "looked good"...

Sometimes it was because of the socialness of it -sometimes they were service organizations - athletic stuff - didn't matter - it was an interest the student had... and could talk about why they were doing it...

While also maintaining a decent GPA... You don't want to stretch yourself to thin... but colleges (at least in my day when the dinosaurs walked the earth) colleges didn't want students who were going to be involved in campus activities and be an asset as ar epresentative of the college...

My GPA is not that great, as of my junior year I had a 3.2..that's why I was doing some sort of extra-curricular to kind of give me something.
But my senior year is jam-packed with honors classes, so I should raise it a little bit more.
Thank You for the advice though, I have practice tonight and I'll see how it goes..then I'll make my final decision.
