Has your weigh-loss inspired you?

Hey guys, I haven't been as active on the forum as I was in the past and that's because my weight-loss has inspired me to accomplish MORE.

Earlier this year I unexpectedly lost a job I had for 9 years. It wasn't a great job, but I never went through post-secondary education after I left high school, so I thought it was the best I could do.

After losing my job, I decided I was going to apply for university as a mature student and surprisingly to me (not to my friends and family who had no doubt in their mind) the university accepted me as a full-time student.

It was seeing all my accomplishments with weight-loss unfold that inspired me to try and accomplish other things that I've always wanted.

Has anyone else been inspired to try and accomplish other goals because of the success of their weight loss?

I am sure I have posted this many places, a thousands of times;D , but I will post it here again.

When I was a freshman in high school, I dropped out- I planned to do homeschooling, but never did of course. I got into video games, and such.. I saw no point to go out of the house, and just kept gaining weight. There was a point in my live, where I planned on doing nothing, I sat in my house for 11months and never even went outside! I really didn't care! Well, since I was always on the internet I found this forum, and started loosing weight. I had been feeling sick- went to the doctor and when I weighed close to 240, I was so upset.

Well, fast forward to now. I have accomplished alot of things, that I never planned on doing- I would say it was all to weight loss, but it wasn't. The weight loss did make me feel more comfortable going out, and accomplishing more things though.

I got my GED, my drivers license , I do get out alot more- I am registered for college for the Spring 09 . All these things I never had/did before my weight loss. My life is completely different from the way it use to be, and I can say that my weight loss has contributed to a big part of this.

For me I think it worked in reverse. I had a pretty traumatic thing happen about 2 1/2 years ago and it quite honestly could have killed me or made me stronger. I think about 3 months after I decided I had to do something to move forward and I registered to finish school that I started years earlier. It was a bit more then midway into that when I decided I wanted all of my life back and all of who I was back, but yes, I do think that positive things we do can motivate us to do even more positive things. For many, weight loss is the turning point because lets face it, it is very hard and takes dedication--if you can dedicate to that, then what else are you capable of? For me, I'm sitting a semester from graduating with a 4.0. I knew if I could do that then I could do anything else and I got tired of knowing I was capable on the inside and forgetting the person I was on the outside before I had children and became just the mother of an autistic child who lived life in virtual isolation.

Either way that people get motivated, it can't be denied that it is so good to have oneself back and to have confidence and feel worthy again.
