Hello Brandon!

First off, welcome to the forum!

Now, I haven't been here for long, but I've learned a lot in a short amount of time. One of which has to do with weight gain or being heavy: It has nothing to do the speed of your metabolism. Instead of trying to fix something that isn't broken, you're going to want to watch your calorie intake--eating more calories than you burn makes weight gain, and eating less than you burn results in weight loss. Seriously, it's that simple. The hard part, though, is guessing how many calories are in that slice of pizza, or plate of spaghetti.

The truth about metabolism: will a slow metabolism make you fat? Can spicy foods spike it? Could a pill speed it up? Shape answers your most burning questions - health | Shape | Find Articles at BNET

Green Tea helps a little with weight loss, but you'll get more significant and long-lasting results by counting calories.

Lots of people here use FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal to keep track of their calories, how much they should be eating along with how much they actually are consuming, but you don't have to choose that route.

I hate to break it to you, but a slow metabolism will only make the difference of a couple hundred calories. Maybe the equivalent of a cookie, or similar.
You are over eating. Thats it in a nutshell. Try reading some of the sticky threads around here to educate yourself from all the garbage thats been fed from silly tabloids and news sites, sign up at fitday.com as suggested and log exactly what you eat and what exercise you do.

Once you eat less calories than you use, you will loose weight, its that simple. You may find that counting calories isnt your thing, so try eating smaller portions and more veg less fat.

But serously, read the Sticky threads on the forum

Like Vulpix mentioned, I have heard great things about green tea and how it can aid with fat loss. It's also available easily as it's in supermarkets or health stores in pill form. However I think watching how many calories you eat would be your best plan.

Trying desperately not to be bitchy here, but seriously, 90% of health information is garbage. The fact that you 'heard' it generally means its garbage.
Just because its in the news paper does not make it fact either. *grrr*
