Hi, I am itching to cut my hair. It's pretty long right now, about to the middle of my boobs, and it's layered. Besides one time last year when it was to my collar bone, I've had it long and layered for about five years, and I'm getting bored. But I'm afraid if I cut my hair short it might make me/my face look heavier. Do you think, in general, that short hair can make someone look heavier? (I'd put up pictures, but I don't know how!). My face shape is kind of between oval and square. And by short I'm thinking no longer than shoulder and no shorter than chin length.

Sometimes I think I've had my hair long for all this time because it sort of covers up my body in a way...if that makes sense. I feel like I'm hiding beind my hair!

I agree, it all depends on the shape of your face. There are websites that can suggest a hair cut for your face shape.

Now, in my opinion, long hair is sooooooo overrated!

A couple of months ago my hair was right above my butt, I went and got it cut to bra strap length, still long but no ridiculously long. lol I know what you mean about hiding behind your hair though. I used to do the same thing, I still kind of do actually. Once I reach my goal weight I'm cutting my hair into a short bob, so it will be like a whole new me. Woohoo!

I'm a fan of like mediumish length hair. Umm, shoulder length would be a better way to describe that, I guess. But, yeah...me likey medium hairs.

As a rule I don't trust any woman with really short hair or any man with really long hair. But I'm a little crazy, so it's better to not listen to me.

That, and I just think women all look better with longer hair :P

Depends on the cut, shape of your face etc. Depends who you are trying to attract. A lot of men like the long hair look, others don't. For me personally I could not imagine being without long hair. There is so much you can do with it and it is just so pretty and feminine.

I think longer the better. I have always admired girls with really long hair. It's exotic and beautiful. Mine is to my waist and that's where it will stay.

I always used to have my hair long, cut it short now, and it looks a lot better. I don't see anything un-feminine or un-pretty about short hair, it really depends on the type of person.

As for 'looking heavier/rounder, it's actually the other way around, often long hair will make you look 'rounder' and more plump.

I never wanted to get rid of my long hair, but now I'm quite happy I did it. Less fuss, I can get up in the morning, run my hands through my hair and look okay, no more hour-long wash-and-dry sessions, no more trying to get my hair under control and ending up with a ponytail in the end because nothing else worked.

You can try to go to a local hairdresser salon and ask them what they think since that's what i usually did and it turned out to my likings.

Personally i loved long hair before, but the fringe kept annoying me and after shower time it is just annoying to dry. Now i tend to go more into short simple hair
