Disgusting.. Average age to lose their virginity

I was just talking to my cousin today, and we were talking about how whorish the 14 year old girls are. And I just found out that the average age for a girl to lose their virginity is 13 years old!! Is it just me or is that disgusting? I mean I lost mine when I was 16, but think about it, if 13 is the average age, then there are a lot of girls under 13 who are having sex! Imagine a 10 year old having sex! Am I the only one who thinks this is sick? Little girls these days don't even know what they are doing!

Yes that is disturbing especially with me raising a girl in this world. My daughter is only 4 and we were having a discussion about being popular. This comes from me dressing her in the morning and she wants to wear popular clothes. I asked her to show me what clothes are popular and she pulls out all her skirts and a little halter top that I had bought for her to wear over her bathing suit not suitable for normal wear. I was amazed and had to explain to her that clothes don't make you popular speech. This just goes to show that kids are being influenced at an early age. Yes very disturbing

it is pretty disgusting, but i'm not sure that it's changed much in the last 10 or so years. I remember when I was down in Atlanta when I was 13 and my brother was 12 ... we met these 3 girls and got to talking ... they were surprised that we were still virgins.
I know the clothes are getting more and more provocative, but that's the parents to blame. Before highschool, kids will accept the restrictions that you put on them for clothes ... if you don't allow them to wear the skanky clothes in Elementary school, then it won't be such a big issue in highschool.
I'm not sure if the clothes have anything to do with the age at which they are having sex, or if it's the reverse. The city and are of the city where your kids grow up definately has a huge part in it ... the bigger and the slummier, the more likely that they'll have sex at a younger age ... more pressure and the attitude that follows.

Don’t be too quick to blame the parent’s guys, you can give kids guide lines as much as you want but as soon as they hit high school im telling you, you have minimum control. Kids in Australia are told from the first day of school what there rights are so they come home and tell you to pretty much get stuffed they can do what they want and there’s nothing we can do about it. I can’t believe how quick people are to judge other parents when they haven’t been in there home and haven’t seen how they have tried to bring up there kids.

i agree not all the blame can be put on the parents. my parents set guide lines for clothing and such. but we would go to school and change into something diffrent or customise our uniforms to make the skirts shorter or unbutton the tops well you get the picture lol.we all did it,same thing with not being honest about where we were going.(god we were bad lol)
we were in a rush to grow up and peer presure didnt help. i think the media today is where kids get alot of there ideas. look at all the music videos and shows out, every body keeps pushing the bar a little bit further trying to out do each other. kids cant help but be influenced by that.

yes i think sex under 14 is sad. i was 16 and i think that was too young but at the time i just wanted to get it over with since i knew it was going to be very painful. i dont know about others but i did not have any pressure from peers etc, was in my own little world and made this decision on my own.

and i think it definately depends on where/how the child is raised. i know for a fact there are still many 18 yr old virgins out there so its not all bad...

Unfortunately its almost a peer pressure thing...almost like you're a freak if you dont do it. I was 17 when I lost mine...and im glad i did wait..but so many girls have such low self esteem ( just like we do) and think that they have to "give" themselves like that to get love..It is sad..but that shows you how sex & looks & all of that has taken over our society as something you "must do" to fit in...or your not good enough. So very sad
Its even sadder that many will get pregnant early...God forbid at 13, and they will need therapy as well as their children because they were brought up by a child. Yikes..its a horrible cycle of sickness

I hope the age 13 isn't an accurate average. Ugh that's definitely disturbing. I don't have kids but it upsets me to know that my nieces are coming up to the point where they may have to make that decision. They're still young though!

I agree that not all the blame can be put on the parents shoulders. I know that regardless of what a child is taught, when they are away from their parents they have to make their own decisions. However, I do think that more often than not, lack of good parenting is the building block for these problems. I see way too many parents who just don't pay attention or care about what their children do. It's so sad!

If children are brought up with morals and values, they will hold these things in their mind when they are making these decisions. Sadly, it's not always the case. Regardless, it's a disturbing thing to think about. At 13 I would have never dreamed of having sex!

No, not all the blame falls on the parents, thats for certain, and esp by the time they are in high school. BUT...10 to 13 yr olds? I mean, why aren't they under adult supervision? Surely they couldn't of had a proper upbringing to be sleeping with someone at 10 or 13!

I definitely agree with you there. Sadly, I see the indication of such walking down the street every day. Man I was home from the park when the street lights came on, if I went to my friend's (who lived literally a block away), my parents watched me walk and I had to call them as soon as I got in the house.

My parents have always been overprotective. Until I moved out I had a 10:30 curfew still. Hehe at age 20. BUT I would rather them be overprotective than not care at all. It's nice to know that I wasn't given the option to throw my life away at such a young age.

oh my god!!! This is shocking! However, im not surprised, once a few years back, there was this girl who came to the Emergency Department where I used to work, I was assisting the doctor to see her, she complaint of vomitting. Her mum was with her. Her age then was 12 years old. The doctor asked her to urine in a bottle and I tested the urine for infections, i told the doctor the result - negative, but told him, do you want to test for pregnancy? He laughed and said, " No, she's just 12, for goodness sake" I shrugged my shoulders, while leaving I said " You'd never know, girls these days"

A few minutes later I pass by the room again, this time, I saw the doctor testing the girls urine for signs of pregnancy - and guess what - It was positive. The doctor asked me, " How did you know?" I just said " Just look at the girl, no other symthoms, just vomitting, dont you think you have to rule that out?" He said " but she's so young" I told him, " Never too young to be HORNEY" --- ( pardon the language) He just looked at me and said " I dont know how to tell the mother"

This is really sad! Just imagine if you are the mother, how would you take it? She took it really badly!!

I was just watching the show "House" last night. I had never watched it before but it just happened to grab my attention last night. There was a girl on there who was 12 and pregnant.

Anyway! Yeah you definitely never know. I can't imagine being that mother...or the child. It's just something I'll never understand I suppose.
