Talking Healthier food alternatives

Heres a few healthy food alternatives i rely on when i wanna get my munch on and not feel guilty about it.

Mashed potato imposter:
4 cups cauliflower florets
I cant believe its not butter spray
1 oz land o'lakes gourmet fat free half & half
pinch salt
pinch ground black pepper

Steam or microwave cauliflower untill soft. Puree in a food processor, adding the butter spray and half in half to taste. Season with salt and pepper. Serves 4

Nutritional breakdown - per serving, 81 calories, 2 grams protein, 5 grams carbs, 6 grams fat, 3 grams fiber.

Ranch dressing alternative:
Tzatziki
Tastes just like ranch but is soooo much better for you. Ingredients- yogurt, cucumber, garlic, lemon juice, dill, vinegar, salt, spices. Nutritional breakdown - serving size 1/2 cup, 1 gram fat, 11 grams carbs, 4 grams protein.

Great healthy dip (also use as a salad dressing):
Hummus
I am partial to a certain Artichoke Hummus i buy @ Costco but my mom makes some kickass hummus also. Its very easy to make @ home and its cheap. The one i buy has garbanzo beans, artichoke hearts, sesame tahini, roasted garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, parsely, green onions, spices. Nutritional breakdown - serving size 1 oz, 2 grams fat, 6 grams carbs, 2 grams protein. I like to put a small spoonfull in a ziplock sandwich bag full of spinach leaves with some grilled chicken and just shake it up for a nice small meal or snack.

Potato chip alternative:
Pita chips
What can i say about pita chips, they are better then potato chips and better for you, they also come in a variety of flavors but are usually about $1 more per bag then regular chips. Great for dipping into your favorite hummus for a healthy quick snack. Nutritional breakdown - serving size 1 oz, 4 grams fat, 18 grams carbs (3 grams fiber so 15grams "net" carbs), 3 grams protein. www.pitachips.com

Its all about keeping great tastes in your diet but losing all the extra fat and carbs. Enjoy, i know i am

Damn, forgot a major one

Turkey

Use in in place of chicken or beef. Its leaner and cheaper then chicken and beef and in most instances you cant tell much of a difference.
