The recipe sounds very nice, BUT, I would substitute some of those ingredients...... see brackets. If you want to know why, read Eat Right Live Longer by Dr. Neal Barnard.
Dough:
1 1/4 cup flour (Wholewheat)
1/2 cup sugar (1/4 cup CANE sugar 1/4 TEASPOON Stevia)
1/2 teasp. baking powder
1/2 teasp. baking soda
1/2 teasp. cinnamon
1/8 teasp. salt (Sea Salt)
2/3 cup buttermilk or 1/3 cup milk + 1/3 cup joghurt (Soy Milk)
3 tblsp. oil
1/2 teasp. vanilla
1 cup fruit (blueberry, raspberry, strawberries etc.)
1 egg
Well, so far as I have been able to determine from Lee and Barnard.....if you MUST use sugar, then it has to be pure, unrefined cane. You asked about "Unrefined raw", I could be wrong, but I think that's the same as "unrefined Cane".
The brown and yellow sugars are just as bad.
Some of the info Lee gives about refined white sugar vs unrefine cane will convince most people to lay off the sugar train.
I understand that honey, maple syrup are also on the no no list.
You should get those two books, they provide so much great health info, and are easy to read.
