Speaking of black beans...
I have a fear of beans...I'm nervous to try them. I love brown beans straight out of the can, and I love kidney beans in chili. But that's it for my bean experience.
I've been perusing
recipes , and a lot use black beans. I am curious as to what they actually TASTE like.
All opinions welcome!

Well...its kinda hard for me to explain...I just know they're good.
Do you eat much Mexican food? You may have had some and not realized it.
I prepared mine for lunch today with red peppers, a dash of garlic and topped it off with some feta cheese... yummy.
I just realized that I am of NO help whatsoever and that I'm just rambling so I'm backing out of this thread now.

i'm not sure i could describe the taste... they're kind of meaty tasting... the texture can be a little off putting for some people, but i think any bean could do that.
black beans i thik have a m uch richer flavor than other beans - but maybe it's the preparation.. i love spicey, and cumin and other stuff that i usually throw into black beans.
Black beans are smaller than kidney beans and have a little more flavor, not as starchy as kidney beans are...
Suggestion... get a small can of them-- drain and rinse them well.... and add them to a salad, or a salsa and give them a shot..
