Getting mine in on Saturday at major expense so financially that loan hanging around my neck is a motivator too | when I was going through the horrible recovery after insertion I said to myself look what I have resorted to, I will never gain this much again! I hope when Im at my goal and the balloon is removed say I gain 5 lbs I will be able to get back on track quickly and loose it, not keep gaining more. |

I feel slightly guilty that I haven't had the sickness but you should all be re-assured that your bodies fight intrusion. Mine couldn't care less what foreign matter is there then!
I have had terrible trapped wind problems in the past (IBS 15 years ago with stress) so I have just avoided everything and eased into it really gently. Still struggling with the water and I've had too much pineapple juice the thought of it makes me gag.
I do sleep (fortunately alone) proppped up on pillows so that the heart burn doesn't get me but suprisingly can do yoga.
I had procedure done on 5th March
Weigh ins:
After 3 days on 8th March 7lb down
10 days on another 2lb down so 9 all together taking me to 12st 10lb.
I'm 5'5" so I'd like to end up at 9st 7lb (pre Baby 25years ago!)
Cheers all. It's lovely to have this support |

Rep Power: 0 | | | 7 months post balloon Just a quick update - having had the balloon out for 7 months now.
I lost 3 and half stone in total - and my daughter lost 2 and a half stone. We both lost a lot in the first few weeks ( felt like crap!) and then it steadied out to around 1-2lb per week. We both had terrible acid indigestion and my daughter had the most disusting burps which were sorted with a short course of antibiotics - other swear by charcoal - the acid was resolved by changing over to lanzoprazole 30mg, drinking lots of milk and eating little and often.
Once the sickness settled we pretty much ate a normal diet - just very small portions. If we had a seriously bad eating day we regreted it the next day as it makes you feel biliuos and bloated - so decide if that little taste of heaven is going to be worth it or not!
After the balloon came out we thought we were going to be starving - but we werent. For the first month we still ate tiny portions. I didnt want to lose any more weight so I had to consciously make sure I had enough to eat as it was surprising how few calories we actually ate a day when the portions are so small.
At my lowest weight I was 9 stone 4 and a size 10-12
My daughters was 12 stone 7 and size 16
7 months on and I have leveled out at 9 stone 12 and size 12
My daughter had gained half a stone but is 4 months pregnant - so thats only going to get worst!! But she is very conscious of not allowing herself to "eat for two".
The balloon is really good at getting the weight off - but it isnt a miracle cure and wont stop you piling back on the pounds if you are hellbent on doing so. We both have to keep any eye on our weight and balance out the bad days with an equal amount of good days. It feels great to be in nice clothes and not feel "fat" and uncomfortable - so that in itself is a great motivation to keep the weight off. If you only have a few pounds to shift and keep on top of it (quick visit to simming world every now and then!) the balloon will have done its job.
We would have it done again in a heartbeat.

Hi there I to am new to this an looking around to see which gastric balloon would be best, has anyone tried an air filled one, I know they are not as popular at the moment, but wondered if it would be a bit kinder on my tummy to stop feeling so sick.... would love any comments anyone has, im also looking at the places to go abroad to do it as they are much cheaper and money is so tight at the mo but still really want to do the procedure, any help would be great xx |

a stone is 14 lbs right? im down 14.4 pounds from the balloon insertion just over 2 months ago. I was weighing in at 195 the first week of Jan so I hope at the first week of Apr I will be 175 and would have lost 20 lbs in the 3 months.
dont get discouraged when the weight loss slows or you dont lose one week. 1-2 pounds per week is a normal good weight loss. some weeks I didnt lose, others I lost 2-3 pounds. Its easy to get obessed with the scale, but just think to yourself you are eating way less and you will lose weight. |

Well what a time it's been. I would be very grateful to speak to anyone that has been through the same or similar to myself. It's been a tough two weeks with lots of sickness and pain and yesterday I ended up going to A&E as I threw up loads of blood, so things not good. They have put me on some meds to calm everything down, as my stomach seems to be angry and not liking anything in it. I have lost nearly a stone and a half in two weeks, which is not good either
Has anyone been through this?
Thanks x |
