when you eat a full meal are you not sick? I think I would be worried that the balloon had burst if I could eat full meals still... have you asked your doctor if its a possibility...

I hope things work out for you ...do you have lots to lose ? Hang on in there 15 pounds is still a great loss and its going in the right direction ie down

Sadisticallly I hope I am one of these people who is sick if they eat too much

ive not been sick once whatsoever, the balloon is still in there because i went to the doctor to get a perscription for more medicine. it just isnt neccesarily a quick fix because you can still eat the meals, its not until 10-15minutes later that you regret it, but the pain isnt too bad, so i would do it all over again

Good luck for ur consultation today, look forward to hearing how u get on! and dont worry about tomorrow at all, as i said the h group were excellent in that sense and i was well looked after that day!
how much do u have to lose if u dont mind me asking?
i have no great tips for the first few days, maybe just have a bottle of gaviscon to hand. when i left hospital i felt fine so never took any anti sickness tabs etc away with me, but it might be worth asking for just incase-i needed them for the car journey home!

Well done on the 15 lbs! im coming up for 5 weeks and have only managed 11lbs! still, im happy with that and if i can keep going at this rate i will manage my 3 stone target come 6 months. i think my problem is im not eating enough-some days all im having is a weight watchers ready meal so starting today im making sure i get a breakfast, lunch and dinner and will see if that makes a difference! i must admit tho, i have had a few treats in the 5 weeks i've had it in too, but i feel god awful a couple of hours later, but like u said not enough to make me not do it again!

Hi All,
The last 2 weeks i have been ok generally but violently ill after my evening meal and they were small portions but now the ballooon has settled and i can hardly feel it and I am worried so now i will need to rely on my old friend willpower to help me out, i had some treats at the weekend but miniscule compared to my pre balloon pig outs so i think 1-2 pounds a week is now an achievable weight loss because of the reduction in calories, i think its hard to know when to stop and thats my biggest problem and now my biggest challenge if i want to re learn my eating habits and keep the weight off, i am not getting too down on myself its only 2 weeks in so plenty of time for me to panic yet lol

Thanks Laurie
I have 3 1/2 to 4 stone to get rid of, so hopefully a good 3 stone would get me well on th way to my target fingers crossed.. how about you, how much do you want to loose and what have you lost already?

Well Im not long back from the consultation which was hurrendous....... when I got there they ushered into a room saying there was a huge problem and they needed to get a manager to talk to me, the manager came in and said I couldnt go ahead eith the op tomorrow when I asded her why I got a number of excuses as she went in and out checking over the space of a couple of hours, she fisrt said that the consultant wasnt qualifed to do the op at the hospital ( i was going to another hosp tomorrow in edgebaston for the Op), then she said that the other hospital was trying to pinch us of them, then it was a paper chain, then she finally said becasue of all the mess would I consider a band, which my BMI isnt high enough for one of those.... Luckily I still has the nurse from edgebaston who had called me last week to go over things number, so I called her and she said I was still booked in with them and everything was fine, she was outraged and said she would try sort it out, she called back and spoke to the manager and said she was outraged at what was going on... I was then told to go home by the hospital group and they woukld let me know if anything changed. Well they have just called and its going ahead and surprise surprise no apology... After many tears and upset today I am now very deflated and worried how my aftercar is goin to go if this is anything to go by.
My lovely nurse from edgebaston has called again to see if im alright and not to worry....
So here I am now waiting for tomorrow with a very empty bank balance ha ha. ill keep you all posted x

Hey, i have 2 and a half-3 stone to lose. im 5 weeks in and lost 11lbs so far.its slowly but surely shifting off!
Thats awful about ur consultation yesterday. As i said, i didnt have much faith with the h group for aftercare but thought that the way the treated me before hand was great which is why i went ahead with it with them (aswell as the reduced price too!). The impression i got from them was that they r pretty new to the balloon procedure so its just all teething problems. i really hope all goes well with u today! let me know

4 Week Update

Hi All,

Just to let you all know, I'm at my four week mark tomorrow, whoop whoop. I'm amazed with my loss, its at 1 and half stones today so 21lb, I'm totally made up...It's been a tough four weeks, but I can see the difference now and so can friends and family, I've lost my double chin, lol

My weight loss is slowing up now, as I have lost such a huge amount in the last four weeks. But at last my stomach seems to be accepting the Balloon. I need to lose another 5 stone to be my normal weight, which I know I can't do with the Balloon alone, but I'm on the way

Hows everyone else doing? I had mine done on the 11th March...

That is so fantastic well done but in fairness u had a really hard time the last few weeks so u really do deserve the reward of such a decent loss, I am approaching the end of week 3 and apart form some overindulgence for my 30th birthday last weekend i feel i am doing good-possibly the best pressie was to wake up the day of my party and weigh myself and find i had lost 12 pounds in 2 weeks almost a stone and i tell u my party costume (fancy dress) had to have the corset done a little tighter

My balloon has settled but i am still struggling with portion size cos i am still very grredy my eyes are bigger than my belly so its hard to stop if my portion is too large, i have little or no self control so gong to look forward and be good from now on. I have had no chocolate since i had the balloon and for me that is fantastic i was a 6 bar a day woman before i had the balloon

Loving all the positive posts its keeping me going throught the cravings.

Hello,

Yeap it has been a tough time. The portion bit is so hard. For the first two weeks I had to have the same amount as 3 yogurt pots full of liquids then solids, which was really odd, as it was hardly anything. I am just having three small meals a day, with nothing in between...For breakfast I will have either a yogurt, ready break or some fruit. Lunch is soup, some crackers and cheese or a omlette...and for tea, a tiny jacket pot with beans and a small salad, veg burger with no breadcrumbs and some potatoes etc....It's very hard the whole portion size thing, as you have got to work with the balloon, which I didn't really understand how too at the beginning, but I do now.
Your doing just great though, well done you! I take my hat off to you, doing this over your 30th, it was mine last year...Well done you! Birthday cake would have been tempting though lol
When are you due to have a weigh in?

Cornishgal x

Hiya Hun,

Aww yes it's all totally normal...The only advice I would give is just to take little sips of water, little and often, but not mouth fulls, otherwise it does all come up
As far as sleeping yeap, I felt like I had a brick under my left rib, I put a squashy pillow, cause I sleep on my front under it, so to speak...I hope that makes sense...I'm four weeks in and it does settle, I had a proper pants time with it, but hang in there, it will all be worth it

Hey Well done you, the horrible part is out of the way,

I was fairly sick the first 3 days but the most important thing is to keep sipping the water it took me 24 hours to drink a 500ml bottle and as each day progressed i drank more and in a week i was up to 2 litres water and 3 herbal teas and i do believe its the fluid that keeps the hunger and craving pangs away, just try and rest as much as u can I was shocked at how exhausted and weak i was and i was so grateful that my family had organised themselves cos i could barely mind myself let alone my 18 month old daughter. it will get better with the sleeping but sometimes if i eat too late at night i get those self same pains and i end up propped up on pillows practically sitting up in bed, i dont htink we will ever be 100% comfortable with the balloon in-i miss sleeping on my front though.
Ride out the storm take ur time with solids and we will be cheering you on come weigh in day.
