Well Ive been reading a ton of stuff on this forum, and it has helped clear a few things up for me, but I still feel so lost. Mainly what I want to do is be healthy, and lose a good bit o weight. So far I have been eating healthy, and exercising...I just dont like how I dont have a set plan...does that make sense? I keep hearing, eat healthy, and all that good stuff, and I get what I think is healthy...to only find that something about it is not so great Ex. has too much sodium, msg, etc. I just feel so lost!!! lol Also, Im afraid that Im not going to get enough vitamins minerals etc that I need. I dont have much money, so I buy what I can get. Mainly my diet consists of chicken breats, whole wheat bread, broccoli, vegetarian vegetable soup, salads, whole grain ish type cereals, skim millk, turkey breats, and some fruit. Occasionaly I will eat a subway 6 inch turkey on wheat with spinnach. For healthy fats, I take flax oil pills, or eat some almonds. I dont count calories yet...but I try to eat something small every 3 hours, or around that. How does that sound? By the way I am 20 years old, female, 5 foot 7.

I know how you feel moonlight! Don't feel so bad though! I don't kow your weight goals or how much weight your carring, or what you were comsuming before, BUT, I know your conciously eating now and that definatley counts. I am sure your eating a lot better than you were right?? Don't worry about all the details if you have just started! Everything doesn't have to be perfect.
You can eat you know, lol, and still be healthy! Just take it slower and cut here and there add some here and there, just know that Whole food are best, what you are eating already sounds great! But this is all from someone who has just started also so.....I don't know if you will hold my opinion high?!?!
Anyways, just keep on keepin' on!!

Sounds like you just need a plan. Set your goals.
For example:
Current Weight: xxx
Goal Weight: xxx
Then I'd suggest you weigh in daily and track your progress. I think that's a big part of what you're lacking. You don't know if what you are doing is "working". So you'll want to record your weight daily (weigh in the same time everyday) and possible record your waist measurement. That way you can quantify your results to see if what you're doing is working.
In addition to diet goals and tracking, you can set exercise goals. For example, "I want to be able to run 20 minutes on a treadmill at 5mph non-stop". Etc...
In my opinion, setting goals and monitoring the progress is the best way to be successfull with your life goals.

Sounds like you are off to a good start. Just get some exercise in and the pounds will drop off. How long since you changed your eating habits? What I would do is:
1. Maintain a sensible amount food/calories a day.
2. Exercise everyday for at least 30 minutes
3. Weigh yourself everyday
4. Stick with it

It sounds great!
If you stick to simple, whole, minimally processed foods like you are doing, you will improve your health. Your weight will be dependent on how much of those foods you eat and how active you are. It sounds as good as any plan I've heard.
Healthy food choices + portion control + active lifestyle = health and fitness
It really is that simple. The complexity comes in trying to understand why we overeat, why we eat the wrong things or eat when we aren't hungry (for food).
Once we understand why we harm ourselves with food and how we can eat appropriately and live a healthy lifestyle, it all makes sense.

You will get there, be patient. That kind of weight loss is best spread over some time, probably just over a year. This allows your body time to adjust and gives the skin latitude to tighten up. My recommendations:
1. Weigh yourself daily. Studies show that people who are successful at keeping off weight do this to closely monitor their progress. You WILL go up and down some and also get stuck for periods of time. Don't get discouraged, the important thing is that you keep the momentum going.
2. You are right about costs. Eating healthy food is very expensive especially fruits. Lots of fruit, vegetables are good.
3. Exercise EVERY day. A minimum of 30 minutes, 60 if you eventually can. Tough aerobic workouts are good, taking it too easy doesn't burn enough calories.
4. Partner up with someone if you can or find a group to workout with, always helps.
If you slip up once in a while it doesn't matter so much as long as you keep going. See you at 140!

This is so key. So many people get discouraged and quit when they slip up. They think, "whats the use?". No no no no no. Just because you slipped up once, that probably only cost you .5 pound. You can make that up in no time. Just stick with your plan.
