Weight Loss 'Cure'

Thread Starter
I was flipping channels and saw this guy talking about a 'cure'. Kevin Trudeau. Of course, he says it's the real deal, but you have to spend $30 on the book.

He says that this protocol is not a deprivation diet, but will reset your hypothalamus, you'll lose about a pound a day, in the problem areas only, you won't lose muscle, and you'll never gain the weight back. Wow, all that for only $30 (insert sarcasm smilie here)
omg, he just said it's not a person's fault that they're fat. Seriously, it wasn't all that pepsi and chocolate I ate. He's saying that things are being put in the food (like at McDonald's) to make us fat. Oy, he's annoying me.

I'm desperately trying to not write a totally sarcastic answer...

I'm sure Kevin trudeau believes what he says but that doesnt mean that consumers should believe it. I think this guy might be a little more credible if he didn't have the criminal past he does (oh yes he learned from his mistakes and now wants to help others instead of bilking them for their money - yes he'll help by selling you a book ) I also think he'd be more credible if he didn't have the major persecution complex that he does - the FDA and the government are trying to shut him up... mmm hmmm and if he werent a supportor of the cult of scientology

I think the guy is a brilliant marketer and con man - but that's about it.

The cure to weight loss is controlling energy balance. Simple as that. No secrets, no scams, no gimmicks.

I saw that same infomerical and almost dialed the number to order the silly book. But I thought about it - 30 pounds in 30 days. Bull. Thirty pounds of what? A secret weight loss clinic in Germany with princes and celebrities. Oh brother. He's using the hook of, "I have a secret that only the elite know and I'm going to let you in on it."

The book is going to be released in April 2007. I know Barnes and Noble will have it. I can't wait to take a look. I bet it's some kind of fasting thing for 30 days.

Like the poster above said, Trudeau has a criminal past.

Concerning Kevin Trudeau's "The Weightloss Cure", you are speaking to the loser that bought it. I am so desperate, I would try anything at this point. the book is the biggest scam I have ever succumbed to. There are over 50 guidelines, including getting 15 colonics in the first 30 days, eating only organic foods, and getting daily injections of hcg (human chorionic gonadatrophin)--things i cannot get in this small town. Also drinking 4 different types of tea daily and receiving swedish massages as often as possible and spending your spare time in an infrared sauna. i paid extra for express shipping, and it still took 3 weeks to deliver--it came with a paper stating "absolutely no refunds on books"--I thought there was a money-back guarantee--I am sooo bummed, I feel ridiculous.

I just called ITV's customer service department at 1-978-299-2299 and they said they offer a 30 Money Back Guarantee on his books including the one you would like to return.

When I asked them about the paper you were referring to saying no returns, they clarified that they do not offer a Money Back Guarantee on the 2 free books that they ship (customer pays shipping) because no money was paid for those books.

Hope that clears it up for you. Be sure to give them a call and send it back if you don't like it!

Kevin Trudeau Is A Snake!

This guy is a dirty lying bastard and should be shot. In his new book The Weight Loss Cure" he claims to have discovered the "magic secret" for weight loss. Injecting yourself with an illegal hormone and going on a 500 calorie a day low carb diet.

Now no shit! Anyone who starved theirselves on 500 calories a day is going to lose weight!

You are absolutely right....

There are too many people out there preying on the insecurities and low self esteem of us larger folk. They are criminals and dangerous ones at that. Men who prey on women and children are considered predators, yet people who prey on the insecurities and ignorance of others are called business people.

It saddens me daily to see that so many of the useless and/or dangerous weight loss gimicks that have now been debunked or made illegal back home are hot items on the Chinese market now. Everything from pills, creams, electonic zappers and a multitude of devices that "shake" the weight off of you apparently. Remember those silly belt machines that would shake yer butt and somehow that would make you skinny? HUGE market for them here now, but most people back home have only ever seen them in movies or old tv shows. The ones that get me are the "shaking platform" (you just stand there and lose weight apparently) and the saddle, which really is just a vibrating saddle for women that I HIGHLY suspect has nothing whatsoever to do with weight loss...... Oy. But at least those are just mechanical things. I am sure soon enough people here will be injecting themselves with crap and taking magic pills and starving themselves too. China is becoming too western for their own good!

Amen.

We'd all like to believe there was a quick cure-all...but the time we waste looking for one is the time we should be making our bodies stronger and leaner. Been there, done that....

My MIL bought this book on ebay just a few weeks ago to see what it was all about...hoping it was something that could really help her. According to what she had heard the diet was supposed to be easy and low on cost....what a load of bull! Along with the rules that Losin'it2 listed, you also couldn't drink any tap water or even take a bath in it. Needless to say, she relisted the book almost as soon as she got it.

No bathing in tap water?

And that helps you lose weight apparently......

But it makes sense. With all the bucks good old Kevin has made ripping off, I mean, helping others.. :S he can afford to bathe in perrier everyday...

Anyone else feel like giving Mr. Trudeau a good swift kick in the jewels...

However, on a brighter note, his new book (or any of his books) could honestly be considered helpful in losing weight!

#1 - You could use the book as a freeweight (not a very big one, but everyone starts somewhere.) ((unless its an ebook, otherwise you would need to print it first))

#2 - The money you wasted on the the book could have been used to by unhealthy snacks, therefore, is helping to keep you from eating bad things.

#3 - Once you realize what a load of "poop" it is, you maybe motivated to join Kick-Boxing or some other martial art to vent your pent up aggressions! (or in case you ever met this sucker in person some day!)

Personally I like the kick-boxing idea....... When is his next public book signing? And where can I sign up for kick-boxing.....?

I thought there were a few positive things you can take away from his book, like drinking clean water and taking better supplements, but otherwise I thought it was overwhelming. I'm all for living a healthier, more natural lifestyle, but he tells you to do so many things that it's impossible for anyone to live up to his standards (not all of which are scientifically accurate), which might discourage people from making any positive changes. And I really have a hard time when authors use the word "Folks..." like some cheesy infomercial every other paragraph...

If it's a scam I'll say so...But it is not.

Reply to RedHotBrandy: Please do not listen to all the haters in this string. You will notice that none have stated that they have actually tried the program or that they have read the book from start to finish. I have. And you must read the book from start to finish. If you just read the chapter that lists the steps to follow, Yes, it will seem crazy (for instance, I read alot of flak about the 15 colonics). But if you read the entire book you will understand WHY they are so important! Honestly, I will tell you I believe this program works. I can only imagine what phase 2 will be like because I am on day 16 of phase 1 and I have lost 11 pounds by following the majority of the steps. They are all not required but I'm doing as many as I can. The 11 pounds may not seem like much but for me it is since I haven't budged from 200 pounds for a year now. Even while going to the gym and cutting carbs, fat, calories, yada yada yada. The 11 pounds are huge for me because for 16 days I have eaten EVERYTHING I want and still lost. Including organic beer, wine and organic ice cream. I have also only had 3 colonics not 15 so don't stress on that. I will tell you that living this way costs a little more but it is worth every penny for your health. If you factor in dining out, Starbucks and any meds you are taking now it will be a wash. It was for me. I also have had a toe nail fungus on half of my big toe for over five years. I have tried many times to clear it up (not with meds though) and have had no luck. On day 14 it was half way gone! My wife was just as shocked as me. When I figure out how to set up a website I will post the spreadsheet I am using to track my daily progress and my daily photos. You will SEE the true results of healthy living not just read hate posts. Good luck to you and good health. :-)
