Truck driver "diet"
My husband drives a truck during the day for a local company. He's gone from 3 or 4 a.m. 'til around 5 p.m. five days a week, with schedules and drops and deadlines so he can't always stop and get anything to eat. Much less anything healthy.
So that leaves taking portable foods to eat...portable foods that don't have to be heated because he's got no microwave or stove access, obviously.
He's 6'2" tall with a large frame, and currently weighs in at 280 pounds. Research I did told me he's eating around 3,300 calories a day to maintain that weight, and needs to cut back to about 2,700 to lose a pound a week. He gets some activity at work, but not enough to consume 3,300 calories or more a day.
But anyway...what types of foods can he take? He does sandwiches every day for lunch, but he's so incredibly burned out on them he's ready to die. He needs breakfast, lunch and snack options to help him meet his calorie goal (because going too low will spell out a dinnertime binge).
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Almonds are a good snack because of the protein/fiber angle - they are satisfying and filling -a little highin calories but just watch portion sizes.
Peanut butter on tortillas makes a good grab and go breakfast or lunch...

Great ideas....he loves almonds, cashews and peanuts. And peanut butter, so the tortilla thing might work, too....

fruit is also portable... apples/bananas/pears
kashi makes pretty good granola bars that aren't full of preservatives or unhealthy stuff...
Cereal in baggies for a grab and go snack (that works for me because I hate milk on cereal )

Are you SURE you and my husband aren't related? It's almost like you know him....
A big problem is his sugar craving. I think maybe the peanut butter, and some fruit, would go a long way to cure that, since they're both sweet. And I'll look for some of the Kashi granola bars, too....

Since I'm a rabid giants fan I'd say the chances of the relation are slim
